Untitled exemplifies Rooskens’ work from the period following 1965, a time when the artist continued to explore fantastical beings, mask- and shield-like imagery, firmly rooted in his CoBrA roots. It's a marvelous and exuberant work that is rare and by a museum quality artist. Its frame is simple but elegant and contemporary.
Influenced by the primitive art of New Guinea, Rooskens infused his works with symbolism and mysticism, creating what became known as his “CoBrA language.” In this piece, the artist uses vibrant, pure colors—red, blue, pink, and yellow—in bold, expressive strokes, applying them spontaneously while maintaining a sense of harmony and balance.
