Esteban Vicente
Untitled

About the Item

This Vicente has a color glow akin to a Mark Rothko. Vicente explored parallel ideas to Rothko and others of the abstract expressionist and color field era. The pastel gives this work a softened feel. The frame is elegant and understated. Beginning in the 1960’s Esteban Vicente refined his gestural style of Abstract Expressionism, employing vibrant color harmonies and contrasts. These carefully composed fields of color strike a perfect balance between simplicity, emotion, and precision. In works such as our Untitled pastel the atmosphere is defined by light and geometry, ambiguously situated shapes within fields of color and radiating light draw the viewer in. Vicente’s unerring sense of abstract compositions, based on his own unique style, is carefully balanced reflecting an innate elegance on a bold scale. In Untitled, Vicente’s slow, calm, and relaxed blending of chroma approaches the sensuous and captivating being of an ethereal landscape.
