Serene plein aire landscape with cows by Clive R. Tyler (American, b. 1958). This composition depicts a farm in Fort Collins, Colorado, with a large white barn at the top of the hill. There are several cows grazing in a bright green pasture. A partially broken fence is directly in front of the viewer - a symbol of the artist's desire to portray the realism of the scene, including imperfections. This piece is executed on sandpaper, a trademark of Tyler's work.

Unlike Audubon, whose lifes work focused on one region, Gould traveled widely and employed other artists to help create his lavish, hand-colored lithographic folios. John Goulds love of natural history was fostered in the gardens of King George III where his father was chief gardener at Windsor Castle. Early 20th century watercolour of a gentleman on horseback with other riders in the background apparently signed or titled 'Count A de Monthaus'. Signed or titled bottom left. Presented in fine period gilt frame under glass.
The artist has captured a moment of pause, the gentlemen rider in his fine clothes and bowler hat regarding his surroundings as his fellow riders continue the chase behind him, possibly a 'point to point'. Monthaus has captured the stance of the standing horse as well as the movement of the other horses. He has used white to give light and definition to the costume of the rider and the background. A lovely atmospheric and dynamic watercolour very much of its period and in the spirit of equine portraiture made famous by the likes of Sir Alfred Munnings.

Elin Siân Blake is a contemporary Brecon-based artist, originally from the South Wales valleys, whose work delves deeply into the rich tapestry of Welsh heritage. Through various mediums, she creates poignant reflections of societal and cultural issues that have shaped the Welsh identity.
Born in 1981, Elin Siân Blake began producing commissioned artwork from an early age, focussing on the traditional Welsh ponies and landscapes of her childhood. She was particularly inspired by the agricultural and equestrian events she attended. As a teenager she spent all her spare money on art supplies. Blake graduated from the University of Glamorgan in 2002 with a degree in graphic design and illustration, but quickly realised that she wanted to create conventional paintings, rather than producing digital images. She then spent several years living on the road in vintage vehicles, painting the scenes and characters she encountered on her travels.
