Gyotaku - A Japanese word translated from "gyo" meaning fish and "taku" meaning stone impression and is believed to get its inspiration from Chinese stone rubbings of calligraphy, which then gave rise to printing . This tradition dates back to the mid-1800s and was used by fishermen to record their catches, but has also become an art form of its own. Prints were made using Sumi ink and Washi paper. It is rumored that Samurai would settle fishing competitions using Gyotaku prints. This original form of Gyotaku is still utilized today, and can be seen hanging in fish and tackle shops all...

I saw the lark early one morning on a walk down to the sea in Cornwall, the moon was still just visible and the bird rose singing into the sky. The lark is brown and cream, the sky and field blues.
All my life I have painted just about anything. After graduating from Camberwell College of Art I was commissioned to paint murals for an architectural firm and started doing illustrating, model making and scenery painting for advertising agencies with clients such as Ford, Glenlivet and the London Stock Exchange. At the same time I was painting from my own studio and was commissioned to make several dinner services for yacht designer Jon Bannenberg. I have been commissioned to make commemorative bowls for The Queen Mother and the Sultan of Brunei, and designs for companies such as the National Trust, Marks and Spencer...
