About the Item

Juventus 1995-96 – He Delivers the Pass. Drawing by Silombria, 1996 Large pencil drawing on paper, signed “Silombria ’96” lower right. The artwork captures a Juventus player during the decisive gesture of delivering a pass — a moment of athletic tension and elegance, rendered with sculptural intensity. Dimensions: H 101 cm x W 72 cm. Dated 1996, the year Juventus won the UEFA Champions League, this drawing belongs to a historic series of works by Marco Silombria, portraying Juventus players as contemporary heroes, drawn with mythological power and idealized masculinity. The sharply modeled leg, expressive face, and dynamic jersey stripes evoke ancient Greek statuary filtered through a Pop Art lens. Marco Silombria (Savona, 1936 – Albissola, 2017) was an Italian painter, sculptor, and graphic designer. After training with artists like Emilio Scanavino and Lucio Fontana, he made his name in Turin, designing campaigns for FIAT, Gallo rice, and other major brands. In the 1980s, he turned to openly homoerotic art, blending Pop and Neo-Dada styles with classical themes. A committed activist in the Fuori! gay rights movement, he created artworks celebrating the male body in all its expressive, athletic, and sensual power. Charcoal pencil on paper Signed and dated lower right: “Silombria ‘96” Dimensions: H 101 cm × W 72 cm Provenance: Directly from the artist’s estate. Unique piece. Part of the historic Juventus 1995-96 series (26 works total).
