About the Item

Peeking out of a beautiful windowsill are colorful florals below a lace curtain in this large-scale watercolor still life by California based artist Kay Duffy (b. 1942). Hints of blue shadows are featured throughout the light and dark areas of this painting, allowing the warm tones of the brick and the foliage to pop. The detail in the lace adds a lot of visual interest, allowing your eyes to move around the piece. Artist's signature is featured in the lower right of the painting. 31.88 In x 40.25 In with frame. Kay Duffy was born in Long Island, New York but has been long established in the artistic community of Saratoga, California and in the wider Bay Area, being affiliated with the Society of Western Artists, The National League of American Pen Women, the Santa Clara Valley Watercolor Association, and more. Her work has been shown in numerous local galleries, and she has studied in workshops alongside painters such as Betts, Brommer, Nechis, and many others. She is also an avid hiker and was the elected Director of the Midpeninsula Open Space District for 20 years and continues to experiment with her watercolor paintings, preferring a slightly more "loose" style of watercolor.
