MORNING BREAKFAST Mixed Media Collage, Abstract Black Family Collage with Paint
Located in Union City, NJ
MORNING BREAKFAST is an original mixed media collage on board by Brooklyn artist Karl A. McIntosh. MORNING BREAKFAST is a somewhat amusing, colorful abstract portrait portraying a black family seated together having breakfast. McIntosh shows his inventive use of collage using cut bits of colored paper in shades of red, brown, blue, pink, black. Visible are magazine print clippings for facial details, dishes, lettering layered with wildly expressive yellow, blue, green and white painted accents that create an energetic and rambunctious breakfast table scene. The viewer can't help but continue gazing at the frenzied movement and visual chatter going on in MORNING BREAKFAST, a captivating and irresistible painted collage by Karl A. McIntosh. Framed size - 27.25 in. x 33.5 in. Image size - 221.25 in. x 27.5 in. Excellent condition, archival framing, beveled cherry wood colored frame with green and gold liner, hand signed by the artist "K.A.McIntosh" on upper left edge. About the artist: Karl A. McIntosh is a self taught artist who works is pastel, watercolor, acrylic, stone, wood and metal and is a known for his imaginative transformation of found objects into works of art. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, McIntosh moved to the United States at an early age and later took up art. Among his mentors are artist Otto Neals with whom he worked at the Bob Blackburn Printmaking Working Workshop and artist Marian Griffin. McIntosh is also a poet, drummer and dancer who draws his creative inspiration and expression from his study of African art and culture. McIntosh’s bold, bright colors dance off the page and tantalize the senses. His work is profound in its statement and deliciously whimsical. His work is an honest portrayal of everyday life and the people who live it but on occasion, takes on public figures and world events most often employing satire as thick as the layers of paint or paper he uses to depict them. McIntosh’s work has been exhibited at numerous venues across the country including Dorsey’s Art Gallery, The Skylight Gallery, MOCADA (The Museum of Contemporary Diasporan Art), 843 Studio Gallery, The National Black Fine Art...

Folk Art Naive Oil Painting Ljubomir Milinkov Whimsical Pastoral Farm Landscape
By Ljubomir Milinkov
Located in Surfside, FL
Ljubomir Milinkov (1938) Oil painting on board, Whimsical pastoral farm landscape Hand signed upper right, Dimensions: painting 12-1/2 x 15-1/2 inches. framed 18.5 x 21.5 inches Ljubomir Milinkov depicts a fantasy like setting using bold colors, and carefully planned out brushstrokes. The figures and inanimate objects that fill the composition are out of proportion, bi-dimensional, and primitive, cartoonist in terms of style. In fact this painting is iconic of Milinkov's Naif style. His work was sold by Wally Findlay Galleries in New York and Palm Beach and he has designed silk scarves for Hermes. Born in Sovac, Serbia, Arrived in France in 1962. Milinkov enters the world of art. He begins to distill his own style. Good life and beautiful models on the Place du Tertre in Montmartre fill and inspire him. In 1967 he went on an adventure to the USA. For 6 months in 1968 he crossed America from New York to San Francisco aboard his own Cadillac hearse, bought for this trip. It's the full hippie period, he shaves his head in contrast to all the bearded people around him. Back in New York in 1969, he exhibited at the Woodstock Music & Art Fair with 60 artists, five hundred thousand visitors. Sponsored by the organizers to register for 2 years at the New York School of Fine Arts, he declines this generous offer to preserve his freedom and explore his own fauvist mode of expression. Proud to be a graduate of the Fine Arts Schools of “Nulle part” and “Every where”. In 1972 he opened his first solo exhibition at the Masseur Museum of Art, Monroe, Louisiana. In 1973 he joined the Wally Findlay International Gallery, with which he worked exclusively for 16 years, exhibiting in New York, Chicago, Palm Beach, Beverly Hills, Paris. He was included in the show "One of a Kind" along with Artists: Camille Bombois, Orville Bulman, Henri Maik, Gustavo Novoa and Annette Ollivary. His tapestry “Noah's Ark” was purchased by the royal family of Saudi Arabia. In 1974 he returned to France and settled between Cannes and Paris. His collaboration with French design house legend Hermes began in 1982: creation of the first Carré “Jardin Enchanté”, followed in 1998 by Gavroches scarves “La Cavale Joyeuse” and “Les Ailes pleines de Joie” and in 2013 the Carré “Bateau Flowery”. It is the “Enchanted Garden” which will have had the honor in 1983 of being the emblem of Hermès' participation in the 150th anniversary of Central Park in New York, where he will be the guest of honor. Also in 1982, creation of his second Aubusson tapestry "Arche de Noé n ° 2". In 2000 his famous “Twin towers” paintings...

"Abandoned by My Family in Chicago" Outsider Art in Acrylic on Canvas
Located in Soquel, CA
Surreal depiction of a figure walking though a city by Marshall Woodall (American, b. 1958). The cityscape is represented in outlines only, creating the impression of being lit up in neon lights at night. The figure walking through the scene is an outline, reminiscent of a walk sign. Throughout the piece, there are hidden faces in the buildings. Signed, dated, and titled on verso along the stretcher: Marshall Woodall Aug 12/2019 'Abandoned by my family in Chicago' Unframed, but the edges are painted for a frame-less display. Canvas size: 16"H x 20"W Marshall Woodall (b. 1958) was born in Oklahoma City, OK. Woodall’s fascination with art began at an early age. His life has been a journey into self-expression and storytelling through music, drawing, and painting. ‘‘I am off the wall and have an unusual imagination. I think about things that people don’t always think about or notice.’’ Self-taught but inspired by Gary Larson...

Original 1949 Painted Ceramic Tile Flowers Hand Painting Grandma Moses Folk Art
By Grandma Moses
Located in Surfside, FL
Dogwood Blossoms. 1949. Dimensions: Tile 6 X 6 Frame 7.75 X 7.75 inches. Provenance: The tile was in the possession of the Beers family and is from the estate. Catalogue raisonné number at Galerie St Etienne: Kallir T #87 An exceedingly rare, authenticated, and hand painted floral decorated tile by Grandma Moses herself, fired by Helen Beers. Tile dated 1949 and signed moses recto as well as 'Moses Fired by Helen C. Beers, painted by Grandma Moses, Pinewold Pottery'. There are only a handful of these known to exist, approximately five, this being one of those five, outside the private collection of Galerie St. Etienne, Manhattan NY. This listing is for the tile only. The photo archive, from the family, will be listed separately and is included here just for provenance and reference. Anna Mary Robertson Moses (1860 – 1961), or Grandma Moses, was an American folk artist. She began painting in earnest at the age of 78 and is a prominent example of a newly successful art career at an advanced age. Moses gained popularity during the 1950s, having been featured on a cover of Time Magazine in 1953. She was a subject of numerous television programs and of a 1950 Oscar-nominated biographical documentary. Her autobiography, titled My Life's History, was published in 1952. She was also awarded two honorary doctoral degrees. She embroidered pictures with yarn, until disabled by arthritis. In her 1961 obituary, The New York Times said: "The simple realism, nostalgic atmosphere and luminous color with which Grandma Moses portrayed simple farm life and rural countryside won her a wide following. She was able to capture the excitement of winter's first snow, Thanksgiving preparations and the new, young green of oncoming spring ... In person, Grandma Moses charmed wherever she went. A tiny, lively woman with mischievous gray eyes and a quick wit, she could be sharp-tongued with a sycophant and stern with an errant grandchild." Moses's work has been a subject of numerous museum exhibitions worldwide and has been extensively merchandised, such as on greeting cards. In 2006, her 1943 painting titled Sugaring Off was sold at Christie's New York for US$1.36 million, setting an auction record for the artist. Her work is fundamental for any Naive art or Americana collection. She was known as either "Mother Moses" or "Grandma Moses", and although she first exhibited as "Mrs. Moses", the press dubbed her "Grandma Moses", and the nickname stuck. As a young wife and mother, Moses was creative in her home; for example, in 1918 she used house paint to decorate a fireboard. Beginning in 1932, Moses used yarn to embroider pictures for friends and family. She created quilt objects, a form of "hobby art". Lucy R. Lippard stated in "The Word in Their Hands" that she found "hobby art" to be "an activity so 'low' on the art lists that it still ranks way below 'folk art'". She found that hobby art often involves reuse of otherwise discarded objects. Moses painted scenes of rural life from earlier days, which she called "old-timey" New England landscapes. Moses said that she would "get an inspiration and start painting; then I'll forget everything, everything except how things used to be and how to paint it so people will know how we used to live." From her works of art, she omitted features of modern life, such as tractors and telephone poles. Her early style is less individual and more realistic or primitive, with a lack of knowledge of, or perhaps rejection of, basic perspective. Initially she created simple compositions or copied existing images. As her career advanced, she created complicated, panoramic compositions of rural life. During a visit to Hoosick Falls in 1938, Louis J. Caldor, an art collector who worked as an engineer in the state of New York, saw paintings made by Moses in the window of a drug store. He bought their supply and ten more from her Eagle Bridge house for $3 or $5 each. The next year, three Grandma Moses paintings...

"Turkey Trot, " Will Moses, Rural Folk Art, Autumn Landscape with Pumpkins, Fall
Located in New York, NY
Will Moses (American, b. 1956) Turkey Trot, 2012 Oil on board 8 5/8 x 7 5/8 inches Signed lower right Soft, shadowy foothills dotted with traditional white farmhouses; weathered red barns tilted haphazardly on broad patchwork sweeps of green and hay-gold fields; small clusters of black and white cows grazing placidly in the distance…it's all part of Moses Country. And, the 200 year-old farmhouse, where Will Moses has his studio, is as solidly traditional as the surrounding landscape…the white house where the legendary Grandma Moses began her career. Born and raised here, in Eagle Bridge, New York, Will Moses creates paintings that reflect the quiet beauty of this tiny community nestled close to the Vermont border. Will has created a vivid, delightful miniature world, peopled with villagers who have stepped out of the past to charm us with their simple, everyday pastimes. As a fourth generation member of the renowned Moses family, painting is a natural tradition for Will, who began painting when he was four years old. Encouraged by his grandfather, a well-known folk painter in his own right, young Will was allowed to experiment freely with paints. Forrest K. Moses was totally committed to self-expression and passed this freedom of spirit along to his young grandson. Stimulated by his grandfather's confident approach, Will developed his own unique style of Americana. Today, Will continues to carry on the family tradition. Although his style is reminiscent of that of his celebrated great-grandmother, it is more complex and sophisticated. Basically self-taught, Will has honed his technique to capture all the most minute details in sharp-edged focus. It is a technique that has gained him considerable attention in art circles. Will Moses has had several well acclaimed exhibitions of his work in the United States, Canada and Japan. The Japanese are enthusiastic collectors of Will's art and Will has personally toured Japan with an exhibition of his work there. In North America, Will continues to make appearances at art galleries and folk art shows, meeting friends, collectors and admirers of his work. Recent public exhibitions of Will's work have taken place at the Cahoon Museum of American Art, The Everson Museum, The Bennington Museum, the North Shore Art Gallery and the President Ford and Reagan Libraries. Will continues his work illustrating and writing children's books. Philomel Books/Penguin Books for Young Readers, have now published ten books to date: Silent Night, The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow, Rip Van...

Indian Summer in Nantuckett
Located in San Francisco, CA
This artwork titled "Indian Summer in Nantuckett" is an original offset lithograph on wove paper by American artist Jane Wooster Scott, born 1933. It is hand signed and numbered 681/750 in pencil by the artist. The image size is 27 x 20 inches, framed size is 39 x 32.25 inches. It is beautifully framed in a custom wood frame. It is in excellent condition. About the artist. Jane Wooster Scott grew up in the Philadelphia area and moved West following her dream to be a movie star. She quickly learned that goal was not for her, but became the host of a talk show where she interviewed movie stars. She photographs what she sees to recapture them later on canvas. However, few of her paintings are real, existing scenes. They are compositions drawn from her personal imagination. She has been exhibiting her work in Los Angeles and New York and most of her shows have completely sold out on opening night. In the "Guinness Book of Records" as one of the most reproduced artists in America, Jane Wooster Scott began copying work by folk artists such as Grandma Moses and gradually evolved into her own style. A turning point for her career was a joint showing at the Ankrum Gallery in Los Angeles with her comedian friend, Jonathan Winters. It was mostly a business crowd, and she sold 40 paintings in an hour. Her works hang in museums, in public buildings and private homes in Europe, Asia and South America as well as in the United States. She has become legendary for her exceptional scenes of America s celebrations and holidays, Among her collectors are Aaron Spelling, Sylvester Stallone, Charles Bronson, Kenny Rogers, Farah...
