About the Item

Deluxe edition of only 23 copies including 40 original etchings by L. Marcoussis, including the title and a portrait of Apollinaire. One of the 20 copies on vélin d'Arches numbered in roman numbers including the etchings before the signature, 2 original plates on copper (table no.7 and table no.30) and the proof of each table. 2 volls. Only one print from one of the pairs of plates is missing. In original slipcase on beige cardboard with an original b/w etching printed on paper and applied on back of slipcase. Nice dedication to the Countess Pecci-Blunt, one of Marcoussis’ closest friends, “à la comtesse Anna Laetitita Pecci-Blunt comprenant une épreuve de 1er état de la planche 7, les épreuves de 6 états de la planche 30 ainsi que les cuivres originaux de ces gravures”. Very rare and fine copy of one of the most impressive illustrated books of the first half of XX century, with visionary cubist/symbolist illustrations. Tables in perfect conditions, each bringing the stamp “coll. Pecci Blunt” on rear of table. This artwork is shipped from Italy. Under existing legislation, any artwork in Italy created over 70 years ago by an artist who has died requires a licence for export regardless of the work’s market price.
