Abstract Composition with Square and Rods in Oil on Canvas
Bold abstract composition by B. Chapman (20th Century). This piece is made up of dark, rich colors, with objects assembled into the composition. Primarily, there is a deep red square that is the focal point, both because of the color, and because the finish is glossier than the rest of the piece. Radiating from the square are several thin, black wooden rods, which appear to be tied together with a small leather strap. There are scattered metallic highlights in various areas of the background.
Signed and dated "B. Chapman '85" in the lower right corner.
