About the Item
Magenta Sunrise, Original Contemporary Abstract Pink and White Paint Pour, 2020
17" x 31" x 1.5" Acrylic, Latex, and Resin on Wood Panel
Hand-signed by the artist.
This abstract paint pour by artist Carla White is both minimalist and full of visual interest. A bold and vibrant magenta pops against the clean white of the rest of the composition. The paint is poured in a swirl, almost like a wave crashing in on itself. Beautiful moments of white peek through the rich pink, adding to the balance between the calm and chaos.
Artist Commentary:
This deep magenta is bold and mesmerizing! I didn't expect to love this color so much! Minimalism and the use of white space is a look and feel I keep coming back to. It's a theme in my work that has been with me for a long time; first, in hand painted greeting cards, and now in these abstract pour paintings.
About the Artist:
Carla White of C. White Designs started off in 2000 with a variety of artistic and creative expressions, such as, jewelry design, hand painted greeting cards, hand painted furniture, and a line of aromatherapy products which included her own unique label and packaging designs. Her designs have also been published as a freelance artist by the greeting card company Design, Design, Inc. Born and raised in Syracuse, New York, but currently living in Los Angeles, she is transitioning from functional art to fine art with a current exploration in Resin Art and Art Pours. Taking from the design elements present in her greeting cards, she is discovering how those translate onto larger pieces, as well as, exploring new and innovative ways to express her creativity with resin, wood, paints, inks and custom blended art mediums. Her current pieces are a personal experimentation in color, line, space and movement in combination with the dynamic and unpredictable nature of the materials and processes she uses. The paintings are left transfixed and the results are mesmerizing. Even dry, the images appear to be fluid and in motion.

Variations on Natural Occurrences 2
By Farida Hughes
Located in Boston, MA
Artist Commentary:
This painting is from my "Common Threads" series comprised of abstract paintings that metaphorically allude to the links, or threads, tying people, groups, and communities together across differences. We often find ourselves faced with addressing the differences between people, via identity, politics, economic stature, family origin, and more. Real entwined thread, or pulled lengths of wool, in the Common Threads paintings are a metaphor for commonly shared experiences bridging these different identity issues. Shared experiences bind people and their histories together in intimately interesting ways. I am working to use these links and metaphoric threads as a means to find common ground and harmony.

Artist Biography:
Farida Hughes’ lively and intriguing abstract paintings take their inspiration from the gathering and dispersing of crowds, group relationships, and shared histories and stories of people. Hughes studied Studio Art and English at Fordham University in New York and received an MFA in Painting from the University of Chicago. Her work is exhibited widely in galleries and art centers and collected nationally. She is currently represented by Walker Fine Art...

Artist Commentary:
For ten years I lived in Minnesota and had a studio in Northeast Minneapolis, which I loved. When I moved to the city, I began to paint compositions of abstracted crowds of people as imagined from above. Can you envision this painting as a large crowd of people? You can hang this either horizontally or vertically. A little impressionistic in expression, this painting also reminds me of a garden of happy flowers.
