About the Item
Manganese, Prussian Blue, and Vermillion Excess Trio Combo by Chloe Hedden presents a high-impact chromatic narrative that oscillates between intensity, depth, and heat. Together, these works exude a vibrant dynamism, with each color contributing a distinct emotional frequency.
On the left, Manganese Blue delivers a fresh, aquatic energy—crisp and invigorating, like clear skies or crashing surf. Its swirling impasto evokes movement and freedom, anchoring the trio in a spirit of forward momentum. At the center, Prussian Blue draws the viewer inward. Its rich, contemplative tone introduces a moodier, more cerebral layer—a visual grounding that adds gravity and introspection. To the right, Vermillion bursts onto the scene with assertive warmth. It’s electric and urgent, igniting the composition with emotional intensity and the allure of overindulgence.
This trio pulses with contrast: cool clarity, stormy complexity, and fiery excess. Hedden’s expressive brushwork and sculptural paint application allow each hue to expand into its own emotional territory, while the grouping as a whole speaks to the tensions of modern life—speed, saturation, and sensory overload. It’s a chromatic meditation on balance and imbalance, elegance and exuberance.
A painting from Chloe's "Excessivism" series where she explores the excessive use of paint to express her feelings about the current state of the world. The works are pure abstraction and usually often employ bright colors used in the commercial world. Brush strokes are impulsive and are left unaltered to capture her mood at the time of making.
About the ideology of "Excessivism"; it is a reflection, examination, or investigation of every aspect of life in excessive state with particular consideration to the areas that have real and consequential effect on the members of the society. Subject areas are, but not limited to, economics, politics and psychology. In the area of economics it is a commentary on economic materialism. It reflects, examines and investigates the excessive desire to acquire material goods beyond one's needs and often means. "Excessivism" depicts the excessive use of resources in an exaggerated way, by means of two- or three-dimensional visual creations, written or spoken words, or in any other manner. It aims at a reflection, examination, or investigation of the capitalist system, devoid of aesthetic, legal, commercial, ethical, moral, racial, or religious considerations." --Wikipedia

About artist:
Born in Utah (USA), Chloe Hedden looks for the unseen patterns and hidden narratives that reveal the magnificence in all things. According to the artist, there is a still point in every moment and to capture this essential luminescence is what she aims for in her practice. Chloe makes use of archetypes from the cultural and mystical history to inform her work. It is through this inspiration that she created her latest body of work comprised of intricately folded Burlap wall sculptures. A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design in 2002, Chloe's paintings and sculptures can be found in numerous public and private collections.

Chloe Hedden
I was born and raised in Utah's wild red desert, but have had the great fortune to call many amazing places around the world my home. A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, I am as comfortable painting large oils as I am illustrating children’s books. In 2007, I won an International Creativity award in the category of commercial illustration for “The Peaceful Warrior.” My first children’s book, “The Illuminated Desert,” written by Terry Tempest Williams and published by the Canyonlands Natural History Association in 2008, won The Mountains and Plains Bookseller’s Award for Best Children’s Book. My paintings and sculptures can we found in numerous public and private collections around the world.
