I had memories of images from my home town (Cheran, Michoacan -Mexico)and ispire me to do this pierce.

Artist Biography:
Cornelio Campos I am a Mexican-born artist who now reside in U.S. I was born in 1971 in Cheran Michoacan-Mexico; and move to the U.S. in 1989. I was always interested in art. As a child, I was interested in comic books and this style comes out in my work sometimes. I gave workshops, lectures, and had exhibits at different universities including Venice International University Italy, Unibesidad Javeriana Bogota Colombia, UNC Chapel hill, NCState University, Duke University, Meredith College, Peace College, Fayettevlle State University, UNC Greenville, Anacostian community Museum Washington DC. I am specializing in paintings that illustrate the complex realities of migrant life that are often concealed or miscontrued to the public. I intend to present a spin on contemporary issues, such as immigration, the U.S. border, and cultural identity. I us a modern folkloric art style and explore culture through vibrant colors and deep symbolism. I describe my art Mexican folklore art as well as a political statement.
