About the Item

"Lake Clouds", is a 24x24 oil painting on canvas by artist Craig Mooney featuring an expansive view over a large body of deep blue water spotted with cumulous clouds. Leading back towards the horizon line, a patch of sunlit green trees catches the last hours of light. A single white sailboat catches wind in the breezy afternoon. About the artist: Craig Mooney makes paintings of dramatic moments and heightened emotionality that are known for being expansive and expressive. Though a representational painter, the artist incorporates a myriad of abstract qualities throughout his paintings. In his figurative work, Mooney romanticizes his subjects and presents them in an atmospheric lens that is best described as dreamlike. His paintings appear to be capturing a moment suspended in time. While his work feels familiar, it is not specific. Rather it is, on a very basic level, symbolism of what could have been, has been or will be... Born and raised in the heart of midtown Manhattan (NY), Mooney’s roots in art go back to his youth. His father, an amateur artist, taught him how to create oil paintings from discarded art supplies found on city streets. To Mooney, the city was an endless source of inspiration at an early age. Though the artist would later take classes in art both in high school and college, he regards this early exposure as the truest form of training he had ever received, After a brief career in the film industry, the artist moved out of New York in the mid-nineties to rural Vermont. The open and bucolic settings of the countryside allowed Mooney new sources of inspiration. Today, Mooney devotes himself full time to his art at his studio in Vermont.

Sailing to the Sun, Reflection in the Water, Oil , Abstract Landscape, Nature
Located in Houston, TX
Sailing into the Sun is an abstract landscape painting. It is oil on canvas. It is gallery wrapped so there is no need for a frame. On a summer morning in 1993 a 22 years old young came to Florida from a small old town in the central area of Cuba called Santa Clara. In his bag, he brought no more than two valuable things, his worn-out brushes and a great dream. The dream to one day become a professional artist in this new land that welcomed him with open arms. Captivated by his love for the beauty of the Landscapes, his last works are what he sees even in the most common scenes: the close relationship of life and who we are with the natural world around us that asks us to respect and care for it. Artist Statement: " I like to scrutinize in the simple things, sometimes it is there where the lost painting is waiting to be found by the painter's eyes. The landscape painting gives me the opportunity to establish a close relationship with the natural world and humbly capture on a canvas a little of its beauty listening to its voice that reminds us how valuable we are and how much we should love it". Lantern Fish, Oil/Canvas, Light and Shadow, Underwater Landscape, Texas Artist
By Ellen Hart
Located in Houston, TX
Lantern Fish is part of the Light in the Deep Series by artist Ellen Hart. Lantern Fish investigates the ubiquitous patterns of light, shadow and reflection that we all experience daily, but that we rarely stop to notice. The works reflect a perceptual duality: a tangible, distinct moment and place when the source pattern is found, intertwined with the fleeting and ephemeral nature of time. As light and atmospheric conditions shift, my source patterns morph, move and change. LOOK FOR FREE SHIPPING AT CHECKOUT Lantern Fish is a part of the Light is the Deep Series. It can be combined with any other paintings in the series shown here. This can be seen as an underwater landscape...
