Visual & Technical Description
Sanctuary is a composition born from the need to find a space where one can be alive, trusting, and real.
The surface bears the traces of the material’s resistance, holding the tension between intention and the refusal to control. Monochrome doesn’t mute — it focuses, refusing to let the viewer escape into interpretation and instead keeping them inside the state itself.
Light, moving across the relief, doesn’t illuminate so much as expose — revealing a depth where silence hides.
This is not an escape into fantasy, but an architecture of belief: in kindness, in magic, in people.
The work belongs to the artist’s ongoing exploration of tactile surrealism, where form is not illusion, but a trace of inner movement.
It is not about something. It is a way of being.

Ukrainian abstract artist Daria Luhova was born in 1991 in Luhansk, Ukraine. In 2016, she graduated from the University of Design. Since then, she has been actively exploring ways to harmonize spaces through art and design. In her art, Darya delves into themes of tactility, emotional adaptability, and the understanding of human experience. Darya uses a unique plaster technique in her work, which allows her to create three-dimensional narratives. She is actively engaged in her creative practice and sells her paintings worldwide. Her paintings are part of private collections in Ukraine, the USA, Italy, the UK, Germany, and Poland.
