About the Item

David A. Dreyer was born in Dallas in 1958, and earned his BFA and MFA at Southern Methodist University. He has had solo exhibitions at The McKinney Avenue Contemporary in Dallas and The Grace Museum in Abilene, Texas, as well as five solo exhibitions of paintings and sculpture at Valley House Gallery. About his exhibition "Blues Before Dawn," Dreyer states: "The title "Blues Before Dawn" comes from my time of creative endeavor. The hours before sunrise are a special time when most are settled into a space of sleep and dreams, a quiet place to reflect. In that place of reflection I create imagery derived not solely of tangible or direct observation but of intuitive organization and imagination. The subsequent paintings and sculpture reflect those symbiotic elements. Subtly, like Blues music the imagery is full of line, form, color and at times revealing lyric troubles."
