In The Mid Of Autumn清秋
Chinese artist Gao Xiao Yun is inspired by nature scenes of Suzhou city, China. He illustrates sceneries are filled with an unlimited sense of time and nature light, with a slow movement of growth that rises into the misty horizon of a Suzhou landscape. His knife palette is rich in colors and substantial in texture but at the same time delicate and selective in his compositions. Gao Xiao Yun does not try to duplicate exact scenery of Suzhou in his painting, instead, he captures myriad of colour changes due to interactions among lights, air and water, which expresses a calm and peaceful atmosphere of the landscape.

Gao Xiao Yun
Suzhou landscape consists of several rivers and lakes. When mist rises from water, landscape is hidden behind a misty screen. Time and light have been forgotten for a while in a mass of fog. The water and sky in Gao Xiao Yun’s paintings are the main elements, which control the whole composition, shaping the boundaries of each structure with their purity and fluidity. Even on its intense textures, we may see signs of drippings in motion; even on his fading shadows we will find shimmering essence of the water. Somehow, it seems like these houses are floating on the “Lethe River”, where no past and no future exist and all belongs to the present. 苏州风景由河与湖组成，当水生成雾，沿岸风景被一层雾幕所遮蔽，时间与光线暂时被遗忘在一团迷雾之中。水与天空是高小云创作的主要元素，纯净与流动的水与天空相互交织组成画面每一部分的结构。即使水的波纹和周围船只与屋舍的阴影让画面充满着强烈的律动，然而在水与空气的衬托下，仿佛所有的屋子都飘浮在“遗忘之河”上，没有过去，没有未来，只存在于当下。 Gao Xiaoyun was born in Shaan Xi province in 1977, China and graduated from the Department of Oil Painting of the China Academy of Fine Art. He currently lives and works in Shanghai. He participated in the development of the Shanghai Pudong Artist Village and Puxi Art District. His works have been collected extensively in the UK, Holland, the USA, Germany, France, Australia, Switzerland, Israel, Taiwan, Singapore and China. 高小云1977年出生于中国陕西，毕业于中国美术学院油画系。目前工作与生活于上海。曾参与发起上海浦东画家村，浦西艺术家园多个艺术家聚集地。作品在中国、英国、荷兰、美国、德国、法国、澳洲、瑞士、以色列、台湾、新加坡等地收藏家收藏。

Honora Berg (American, 1897-1985) was an Abstract Expressionist and Bay Area Figurative School artist who studied at the San Francisco Art Institute with David Park, Elmer Bischoff and James Budd Dixon. Berg's friend Edith Truesdell — David Park's aunt — suggested a move to California in 1951 to study under Park. She exhibited at the 25th Annual Drawing, Print and Sculpture Exhibition at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, 1961.
