Minimalist Abstract Color Field Painting in Light Brown, Beige, Gray (C20-3)

2020

$1,800

About

Nature-Inspired Minimalist Abstract Color Field painting on three wood panels in shades of light brown, beige, and gray Acrylic on 3 panels Each panel is 8 x 24 x 2 inches Panels can be oriented or stacked horizontally or vertically, recommended spacing between panels is 1-2 inches Overall measurement for vertical install with 1 inch spacing: 28 x 24 x 2 inches We are amazed by this artist's ability to achieve multiple flawless layers of acrylic paint, wiping it on and off with cotton cloth, to create a subtle yet distinctive woven texture on a smooth surface. The artist's work is inspired by patterns found in nature such as tree rings, rock lines, ethereal horizons, or water ripples. It appears as though a light source is originating behind the panel, glowing softly in a pale, dreamy green palette. This unique surface spreads all the way to the very edge of each panel. The 2 inch deep sides are cleanly painted white for a seamless finish. These panels hang flush to the wall by resting on two nails on either side of the panel, and can be arranged in any number of ways, highlighting the work's sculptural element. Artist's Statement: My paintings merge the detailed textures and colors found in the natural world with the linear and geometric patterns visible in industrial and architectural structures. The interplay of these elements drives the work and provides a platform for constant change and narrative. By simultaneously layering and removing paint with rags instead of brushes, my hand is directly involved with the process. Each piece contains multiple panels that evoke a nuanced and evolving universe. Ginny Fox builds up each non-representational piece with overlapping streaks of paint that frequently span two or three panels. Working with rags instead of brushes, Fox’s hand moves along parallel paths, emergent colors cascading gently towards the edges of the composition's plane. There’s something vaporous to the outer layers of the work, the interwoven strands of color offering glimpses at the painting’s earthy base and hinting at the artist’s gradual process. Having received her education from New York University in the 1970s, Fox has since exhibited throughout the United States, especially in New York City and the northeastern U.S. RESUME Solo Exhibits 2019 Winterscape Soho20 Bushwick, New York 2017 Perpetual Earth Soho20 Bushwick, New York 2015 Intimate Universe Soho20 Chelsea New York, New York 2012 New Work Soho20 Chelsea New York, New York 2008 Recent Work Soho20 Chelsea New York , New York 2006 Recent Work Soho20 Chelsea New York, New York 2004 Sum and Substance Soho20 Chelsea New York, New York 2002 Of a Personal Nature Soho20 Chelsea New York, New York 2000 Recent Work Soho20 Gallery New York, New York 1998 Recent Work Soho20 Gallery New York, New York 1982 Recent Work Fitzgerald and Co New York, New York Two and Three Person Exhibitions 2017 Selected Paintings and Sculpture Carrie Haddad Gallery, Hudson, New York 2016 25th Anniversary Exhibition Carrie Haddad Gallery, Hudson, New York 2010 Painting and Ceramics Exhibition Pratt MWP Campus, Utica, New York 2009 The Texture of Color Rockefeller State Park Preserve ,Sleepy Hollow, New York 2002 Reassembling Art Sites Gallery Greenport, New York Group Exhibitions 2018 Temperature Change Soho20 Bushwick, NY 2016 Rational Horizon Soho20 Bushwick, NY 2015 Cross County Transform Gallery New Rochelle, NY 2014 Roots Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center Brooklyn, NY 2013 Selection Soho20 Chelsea New York, NY 2011 Box,Book and Line Mill Fine Art and Applied Design Santa Fe, New Mexico 2011 Retreat Group Show Kathryn Markel Gallery Bridgehampton,NY 2010 Jeffrey Leder Gallery Long Island City, New York 2009 Cambridge Art Association Cambridge, Ma 2008 Summer Group Show Brenda Taylor Gallery New York, New York 2008 stART08 Soho20 Chelsea New York, New York 2007 National Exhibition, Stephen Haller ,curator, Shippensburg University, Shippensburg, PA 2005 National Exhibition , Stephen Haller, curator, Art institute & Gallery, Salisbury, Maryland 2005 Small Works Soho20 Chelsea New York, New York 2005 National Color Award Show Stamford Art Association Stamford, Connecticut 2005 National Exhibition Art Institute and Gallery Salisbury, Maryland 2003 Small Works Invitational Soho20 Chelsea New York, New York 2003 Annual Group Show Soho20 Chelsea New York, New York 2002 Old New/ New Old Soho20 Chelsea New York, New York 2002 Re/Opening Alpan Gallery Huntington, New York 2001 Ready or Not Soho20 Chelsea New York, New York 2000 Untitled Soho20 Gallery New York, New York 2000 Of Nature Nese Alpan Gallery Roslyn, New York 1999 Winter Group Show Nese Alpan Gallery Roslyn, New York 1998 Celebrating Diversity Nese Alpan Gallery Roslyn, New York 1998 Group Show Soho20 Gallery New York, New York 1997 Diversions Soho20 Gallery New York, New York 1997 Happy Returns Soho20 Gallery New York, New York 1993 Philadelphia International Contemporary Art of Old City Exhibition Philadelphia, PA. 1993 National Small Works Exhibition East-West Cultural Studies New York, New York 1993 Earth Art Sawtooth Galleries Winston Salem, North Carolina 1993 Drawing and Small Sculpture Del Mar College Corpus Christi, Texas 1993 National Small Works Exhibition Scoharie County Arts Council Gallery Cobleskill, New York 1992 Drawing and Small Sculpture Exhibition Del Mar College Corpus Christi, Texas 1991 Painting and Sculpture Exhibition The Berkshire Museum Pittsfield, Massachusetts 1991 Art of Northeast USA Charlotta Kotik, curator, Silvermine Guild New Canaan, Connecticut 1981 Paperworks 1981 Lehigh University Lehigh, Pennsylvania Private Collections Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center New York Education Bachelor of Science in Studio Art New York University, 1975
