Abstract expressionist portrait of a man with his hand raised by California artist Harald "Harry" Dry Schmidt (American, 1933-1979). The man has his mouth open and is wearing a brimmed hat. His left hand is raised with two fingers out. Harald was an eclectic San Francisco Abstract and Outsider artist from 1960-1990. The heavy use of textured brush strokes creates movement within the piece. The painting features large ridges and the evidence of wet-on-wet painting techniques.
