Ji-an Kwon’s “Humming Letter #130” (2025) is a striking mixed media on canvas measuring 27 x 27 cm (10.6 x 10.6 in). Known for her signature technique of working directly with her hands rather than brushes, Kwon creates richly textured surfaces where colors seem to vibrate and merge. In this work, layers of deep violets and blues are illuminated by vivid touches of neon pink, green, and orange, producing a dynamic sense of movement and energy.
What makes this piece unique is the artist’s concept of translating music and voice into visual form. The “Humming Letter” series reflects her exploration of sound waves and emotion, where pigments become resonances of the body and spirit.
