About the Item

Combining photorealistic oil painting on canvas with the illusion of computer-rendered graphics, Jose Carlos Zubiaur’s original artworks transcend the depth of a hyperrealistic three-dimensional object. With every brush stroke, Zubiaur strategically maintains the artificial feeling of high gloss fabricated objects and uses this emphasis on highlights and shadows to create the illusion of a light source passing by or the subject rotating in space. Within each artwork, there are no walls or boundaries, simply endless space surrounding the changing subjects which seem to exist in both the digital and physical world simultaneously. Zubiaur created this one-of-a-kind 39-inch square original artwork with oil paint on canvas. It is wired and ready to hang. The sides are painted black and it does not require framing. The artist signs it on the back of the artwork. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included. Free local Los Angeles area delivery. Affordable Continental US and global shipping are available. Born in Orizaba, Mexico in 1987, Zubiaur was always passionate about creating art with technology. At the University of Veracruz, he studied digital video, visual effects, 3D animation, and filmmaking. Now, based in Mexico City, he has translated these skills into creating unique paintings of artificial fantasy. Zubiaur says of his art,” My work is based on the concept of identity as a process of constant change, where the perception of the individual mutates constantly through symbolic systems and abstract language, where we can reinvent ourselves. I pretend to direct the meaning of the work as a specific creation that works in its singular context. I create a continuous development of the work as a language that is independent of a specific symbolic system or a mixture of theoretical conjectures.” Zubiaur's work has been selected in the Second Biennial of Art Veracruz, XVI Biennial of Painting Rufino Tamayo, "Mexico: The Future is Unwritten: Contemporary Artists from Mexico" in Venice, Italy. His work has been exhibited in Mexico, the United States, Italy, Argentina, and Cuba. REPRESENTATION Artspace Warehouse, Los Angeles, USA EXHIBITIONS 2018 "Ctrl" Sonorum Festival. A287 - Abstract Art Painting on Canvas Original Schmidli Artwork
By Marco Schmidli
Located in Los Angeles, CA
Swiss-born artist Marco Schmidli creates large-scale minimalist paintings reminiscent of color field studies with a contemporary edge. Placing emphasis on process, he lets the mediums naturally manifest within his artwork. “An important aspect of my artwork is the removal of my own artistic hand. Instead of controlling and demanding the paint move and act a certain way, I let the paint naturally manifest and express its pure form/ true colors/ most natural movement.” Schmidli's work is known for its sensitive surfaces and subtle textures. He has developed specialized techniques for applying and layering color, giving depth to his large-scale paintings. This 25-inch high by 18-inch wide and 2-inch deep original artwork is an abstract composition in acrylic on canvas. This artwork is wired and ready to hang. It does not require framing. It is signed on the back. Free local Los Angeles area delivery. Affordable Continental U.S. and worldwide shipping is available. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included. Schmidli studied photography and fine art in Switzerland and Rome. He worked as a photographer and painter in Zurich and then in 1989 he moved to California. Schmidli has been creating large-scale artworks since. He has developed specialized techniques for applying and layering color. His artworks have been featured in the film and entertainment industry, such as fashion photography, celebrity portraits, music videos, films, editorials, and at red carpet events. Schmidli has set a new standard for large-scale contemporary abstract works in Los Angeles. His original paintings have appeared in highly respected magazine publications, such as Vogue, Flaunt, and Harper’s Bazaar. His work has also been featured in fashion spreads of iconic international brands such as Nike and Balenciaga. Stephanie Serpick, Interior Visions 8, 2023, Oil On Panel, Realism
By Stephanie Serpick
Located in Darien, CT
Intimate paintings represented by unmade beds and tossed sheets, absent of any human evidence, on intentionally blank, somewhat rough backgrounds. The empty bed in these paintings represents a place for grief, isolation or healing. As such, the work speaks to our shared feeling of grief, with the understanding that while we all suffer in our individual ways, suffering is universal. Source material for this work are photographs the artist has both taken and found, and the intimate size of the paintings references the intimate nature of the subject matter. The backgrounds of the paintings are repeatedly painted and sanded, to create a frame and backdrop for the bedding that is flat, yet rough with work and time. The bedding itself is seen from different perspectives, but still indicates a scene of desolation and despair. While the series began in the fall of 2016, recent events—including the pandemic—have provided a new dimension to the work and have compelled Serpick to consider the themes in light of these events. Our forced isolation and the challenges it has brought to our physical and mental health provides an additional shared experience from which to consider grief and eventual healing. Biography Stephanie Serpick is a painter whose work explores themes of isolation, grief, and healing. Her work has been shown in various exhibitions in the U.S. and internationally, and she is a fellow at several residencies, most notably at the Florence Trust Studios in London, MASS MoCA in North Adams, Massachusetts, and the Vermont Studio Center, where she was awarded a full fellowship and stipend to attend. Recent exhibitions include solo shows at Sweet Lorraine Gallery in Brooklyn, the College of Southern Nevada, and a two-person exhibition at The Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute at the Museum of Art at Pratt in Utica NY...
