About the Item

Juan Lazaro I love my Bike 2020 28.5 x 50 in Acrylic on canvas This figurative abstact painting is made with acrylic and pen on canvas. Juan Lazaros "bicycle transformers," gives his recent muse ,the bicycle, energy and a life of its own for owner. Wire is installed on back of the piece for easy installation. Signed on front and back of piece. Born in Manuel, Cuba in 1973, Juan Lazaro Gutierrez Mamblas is a painter who focuses his vision on the bicycle. His abstract works with forms floating on a virtually monochrome ground are evocative of the 20th century inventions of Paul Klee. It is the intriguing puzzle of these forms that draw the viewer into the works where enigmas and paradoxes confound the senses. Lazaro deconstructs the universal bicycle into colorful parts that splash out onto the viewer. Imagination and creativity are given to explore the use of non-representational forms and elements. This artistic style allows for a wide range of interpretations and encourages viewers to engage with the artwork on a more personal and subjective level. When asked about his art and what he is trying to express, he said that his work as the manifestation of unspoken things. "I try to express my ideas and thoughts by giving them the exact date of the year in which I finish the canvas. The inner world and my experience of my life each day are reflected in my work, but in a non-figurative manner. The anger, regret and joy that I feel are expressed in my art."

Vintage Bike, Original Painting

Artist Comments
Artist Kira Yustak depicts a shiny red bicycle inspired by a love of vintage items and toys from childhood. "They bring back so many fond memories and emotions," says Kira. "That feeling of freedom when riding a bike as a child is so very wonderful and exciting!"

About the Artist
Kira Yustak paints fantastical scenes that come from her childhood memories, dreams, and the natural world. Each piece feels like part of a larger narrative of an alternative reality, rendered in a style she describes as comic realism. She feels art must trigger something inside the viewer’s soul.Kira currently lives in New Jersey and finds inspiration in the work of Lowbrow, Folk, and Surrealist artists.
