About the Item
This is a one of a kind original oil and resin painting by San Diego artist, Julia San Roman. Its dimensions are 18" x 24". It is unframed. A certificate of authenticity will follow delivery.
This is a surrealist abstract painting in which the artist has created stripes of colors such as pink, blue, and orange leading up to a clouded sky.
In these celestial scenes, light is in constant struggle with the clouds for room in the sky. The red and yellow light beams explode through the grey amorphous masses, leaving a full spectrum of color in their wake. As the light vanquishes the dark, a feeling of optimism swells inside each of San Román’s paintings.
Julia San Román is a California artist born in Madrid, Spain. Although she concentrated her formal education on science, choosing to move to the United States to further her career and earning a Ph.D in Biology, the influence of her childhood exposure to art remained an integral part of her passion for life and, after receiving training in Studio Arts and Art History at the college level, she has committed her life to painting. San Román has had solo exhibitions at the Oceanside Museum of Art, Oceanside, CA; W.D. Cannon public gallery, Carlsbad, CA; West End Space, San Diego International Airport, CA; Stephen Clayton Gallery, Coronado, Oceanside, CA; L-Street Fine Art, San Diego, CA; Salazar Contemporary Art Exhibits, La Jolla, CA. Farida Hughes’ lively and intriguing abstract paintings take their inspiration from the gathering and dispersing of crowds, group relationships, and shared histories and stories of people. She developed her abstract mixed media style, and methods of mixing oil paint with resin, after many years of painting with oil paint and experimenting with oil painting mediums. Hughes studied Studio Art and English at Fordham University in New York and received an MFA in Painting from the University of Chicago.
