Artist Karen Hansen envisions an abstract seascape of raging waves crashing into each other. She paints experiences reminiscent of nature for her tantalizing Forest Bathing series. Throughout the process, Karen responds to what is happening as it appears. "This piece began with only a vague sense of what it would become," says Karen.
About the Artist
Karen’s abstract paintings are best described as an exploration in color. Often monochromatic, her work is a meditative and serene improvisation in the movement and depth of paint. Whether executed in earthy shades or vibrant tones, each painting evokes a different mood for the viewer’s contemplation. Karen’s body of work gives a gentle nod to the Color Field movement of the 20th Century, grounding her portfolio solidly within the evolving story of contemporary art.

Alicia Dunn’s abstract paintings are affected by a confluence of elements: the weather, her mood, and the properties of her materials. “Ceding control to these things allows the magic to happen,†the artist explains. Jenn painted this piece using Golden Open Acrylics, which take longer to dry and therefore allow for more blending time. Jenn uses this technique to give the painting a dreamy and hopeful essence. "I am more passionate than ever about painting peaceful, reflective art that provides serenity and beauty," she says. This piece was painted on Arches heavyweight paper and includes a 1 5/8" border around the edge for ease of framing.
