About the Item
Contemporary Impressionist Floral Oil painting on paper.
"Mi Amor," a vibrant depiction of yellow tulips, is a remarkable piece from Natalya Mougenot’s ongoing floral series, where she seamlessly blends expressionism, impressionism, abstraction, and the unfiltered spontaneity of naive art. In this series, Mougenot channels her emotions and visions into each artwork, creating them in a single, uninterrupted sitting. Once completed, there is no revisiting or refining—each piece exists in perfect harmony with the artist for those few hours before it is released, allowing the painting to begin its own life.
Mougenot’s artistic philosophy revolves around the fusion of naive art with authenticity. Rejecting the confines of formal training, she embraces raw, unfiltered creativity. In her hands, every brushstroke feels deeply personal, offering a window into the simple yet profound emotions that drive her work. Her paintings invite viewers not only to admire the visual beauty but to embark on a journey into her world of heartfelt self-expression, where the honesty of the artwork resonates in its simplicity.
In "Mi Amor," the artist presents a dynamic bouquet of golden tulips, drawing the viewer’s gaze with striking expressiveness. Bold, energetic brushstrokes emphasize movement throughout the composition, while the contrast between the warm, golden flowers and the soothing teal background creates a vibrant harmony. The stems and leaves, rendered in varied shades of green, lend depth and texture to the piece, enhancing its naturalistic feel. The interplay of color and texture brings the scene to life, capturing the fleeting beauty of the blooms and offering a fresh take on the traditional floral motif. Through Mougenot’s confident use of color, viewers experience both the calm and energy inherent in nature.
The medium of oil on heavyweight Fabriano paper (300g) imparts a luxurious quality to this piece. The artwork is unframed, offering collectors the flexibility to choose a frame that complements their personal style and interior design. A hanging fixture is included for easy installation, making it ideal for various settings—from a living room wall to a console table.
"Mi Amor" is an original, one-of-a-kind creation, signed by Mougenot and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity. The painting is carefully packaged with protective bubble wrap and shipped in a sturdy cardboard box, ensuring safe delivery. Tracking details are provided upon shipment.
About Natalya Mougenot
Born in 1981 in Pavlodar, Kazakhstan, and now based in Lyon, France, Natalya Mougenot’s multicultural background has profoundly influenced her artistic journey. Growing up during the Soviet era in a diverse environment, she moved to France in 2003, where painting became a form of therapy, allowing her to process personal challenges and channel her emotions into vivid works of art.
Her art explores themes of resilience, empowerment, and modern identity, often focusing on the experiences of women. Specializing in floral compositions, landscapes, abstract works, and portraits, Mougenot draws from her eclectic background in music, photography, and international relations. These influences converge in her art, creating a distinctive blend of hope and despair that invites viewers to engage with her work and reflect on their own personal experiences.
Through her evocative, emotive pieces, Mougenot invites us to witness the beauty in life’s complexities, to connect with her stories, and to engage with the raw, unrefined creative spirit that defines her art.
Natalya is a contemporary artist from Lyon, France. She was born and grew up in Kazakhstan, the country known for its spacious steppes and low mountains. She arrived in France 2003. Since that moment she loves her adoptive country. She started painting in 2017 and used it as a therapeutic and emotional release during times of crisis when she was struggling with radical life changes. She incorporates this therapeutic approach in her artistic creative process till now. Several years ago painting became more than a hobby. It became a way of expressing her emotions and visions, a successive reaction to events of either personal or general concern. Her artist statement: “ I paint as it’s a necessity for my soul to express itself. Being creative for me is overcoming the restrictions. My art is a piece of my soul. I hope my art inspires reflection, provides a release and forms connection at other people’s souls”. She has developed her own vision of art through practicing a lot. She makes use of varying degrees of figuration, abstraction and impressionism by adding a contemporary twist. Abstract art for her is an interesting challenge for understanding inner feelings, a self-expression based on an intuitive approach. In figurative art her main subject remains women. Her artworks representing women contain the raw emotions of women. She also communicates the importance and the power of strong female relationships: “Women are enriched when they bond with each other”. She works in series: among them are "Heart-mind connection" of abstract artworks, "Women", "Bond", "Florals", "Springtime"... She uses various mediums ( acrylic, oil, watercolor, oil pastels) to create her unique artworks either on canvas or on paper. But she mainly uses acrylic as she works very quickly and expressively by finishing her artwork in one sitting. If Natalya had to pick one quote about her art, she would say : " Art is the reflection of the soul". Natalya goes with her gut and intuition to choose the colors, the lines, the shapes and the texture. She hopes her artworks will give a home a unique personality by filling it with life and color. Her sources of inspirations are Claude Monet, Paul Cezanne, Henri Matisse, George-Daniel de Monfreid, Paul Gauguin. She also admires the artworks of Joan Mitchell and Banksy.

Abstract Still Life Oil and Pen on Paper Painting (1994) by Theresa Bernstein
Frame: 26" X 22", Image: 18.5" X 14.75"
A Polish born American modernist figurative artist in the traditions of the Ashcan and New York Realism Schools, wife of William Meyerowitz. The artwork represents a still life with two flower vases. Signed by the artist and dated 1994 in the lower left.
Theresa Ferber Bernstein-Meyerowitz (1890 – 2002) was an American artist, writer, and supercentenarian born in Kraków, in what is now Poland, and raised in Philadelphia. She received her art training in Philadelphia and New York City. Over the course of nearly a century, she produced hundreds of paintings and other artwork, plus several books and journals.
Bernstein and her husband William Meyerowitz (a WPA, New deal artist), who was also an artist, lived and worked in Manhattan and Gloucester, Massachusetts. She painted portraits and scenes of daily life, plus reflections of the major issues of her time, in a modern style that evolved from realism to expressionism. She was active in several art associations and promoted her husband's work as well as her own. Her artworks are found in dozens of museums and private collections in the United States and abroad. She remained active all her life and was honored with a solo exhibition of 110 art works to celebrate her 110th birthday.
Bernstein also authored several books, including a biography of her husband and a journal about their many trips to Israel.
She died in 2002, just a couple of weeks short of her 112th birthday.
Theresa Ferber Bernstein was born in Cracow, Poland, on March 1, 1890. She was the only child of Isidore Bernstein, a Jewish textile...
