Nura Ulreich (American, 1899-1950) Musical Dreamscape Original Oil Painting c.1930s Absolutely wonderful dream-like oil painting with a touch of vintage surrealism. Created with oils on panel. Dimensions 29" x 23.5". The original frame measures 32.25" x 27". Signed in the lower right corner. A slight indentation in the upper right corner and a few minor scuffs / scratches. Please see images. The painting is in good vintage condition. The panel shows a minor crack in the lower left corner (see images). Nura Ulreich was a painter, lithographer, muralist, author and illustrator. She first studied at the Kansas City Art Institute before attending the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts and the Art Student's League in New York. She subsequently studied under John French Sloan and Frederic Rodrigo Gruger. She then lived and painted for several years in Paris where she exhibited widely and with success, including at the Salon d'Automne, and where she met and married her husband, the artist Buk Ulreich. After returning to the United States, Ulreich continued to exhibit with success, including at the Art Institute of Chicago, the Corcoran Galleries Biennials (1928-39), the Salons of America, the Society of Independent Artists (1928, 1941) and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts (1929-1931). Ulreich's work is included in numerous private and public collections including the permanent collections of the Smithsonian Art Museum, the Walker Art Center, the San Diego Museum of Art, and the David Winton Bell Gallery at Brown University among others. This is a rare opportunity to acquire an original painting by this talented artist.

Signed and dated at the upper border. She has auction results over $9,000 which was earlier in 2021. Olga Ivanjicki, the daughter of Russian emigrants was born in Pancevo, Danube Banovina. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Belgrade, graduated in 1957, and in the same year she was the only woman among the founders of MEDIALA Belgrade, an art group of painters, writers and architects such as Leonid Šejka, Vladimir Velickovic, Ljubomir Popovic, Miodrag Ðuric. In 1962, she received a scholarship of the Ford Foundation to pursue her art studies in the United States, and in 1978 she was a selected artist of the Fulbright program Artist in Residence at the Rhode Island School of Design. She had over ninety individual exhibitions and participated in numerous national and international group exhibitions. Ivanjicki’s painting was influenced by Symbolism, Surrealism, Pop art and Fantastic art. In the course of her career, the artist received the Vuk Lifetime Achievement Award (Vukova nagrada, 1988), the Seventh of July Award (Sedmojulska nagrada, 1988) and the Karic Award.
