About the Item
In her latest series, "The Weaver," Shizico explores forms, layers, and time onto canvases. Applying the format of diptychs and triptychs, she creates lyrical narratives, capturing the play of light across different moments of the day over several weeks. In doing so, Yi pays homage to Monet's fascination with capturing light's nuances throughout the day.
With her unique, confident and expressive brushstrokes, Yi captured the essence of her studio garden and flowers, infusing her paintings with an enchanting charm that goes beyond mere botanical representation.
Magic Bell /Kalanchoe, its exquisite beauty captivating with its succulent blooms; blooming from late winter through spring, alongside the magnificent Magnolias, they grace the chilly months with flora splendour. In her studio, Shizico Yi found solace amidst these indoor houseplants, where she brought them to life on canvas during the winter seasons.
This series invites viewers to go on a journey through time, as Yi explores how light shapes our experiences, growth, seasons, and aging. Through each painting, she weaves a tapestry of emotions, resonating with her profound passion for art and life.
Set of Three note:
There are 3 in this series, this is the Day time painting, you can collect the whole set-from day to night; together, three of them could be displayed as 40 x 90 cm, the length of the three canvas panels line-up side by side.
If frame them separately and hang them side by side with space in between, the set of three paintings could bring huge impact to your space with their visual lyrical repetition and Yi's strong and confidant brush- strokes.

Dr. Shizico Yi, the UK artist working on installations, films and paintings; the documentary nature of her work often concerns about the loss, repetition, the everyday subject and memories . With design and film background, Shizico combines her interests making installation projects which relate to artist's personal life in relation to the society and human condition at large.
Shizico Yi holds a PhD in Fine Art awarded by UEL, UK 2017; she had completed a Master in Fine Art with a BA in Womenswear from UAL. London. She is also the Winner of Women Film Makers: Best Shorts Competition 2013 Los Angels. USA.

Shizico Yi's work aims to explore artistic obsession through repetitive documentation of the domestic and the everyday. Yi uses painting, drawing, photography, large-scale installations, moving image projections, and two-dimensional visual images to articulate her relationship to family and memories, and time.
