About the Item

Tatiana Flis’ “Shifting Horizons” is a 48 x 36 inch abstract acrylic painting created with multiple monoprinting methods on a birch wood panel. Heavy contrast among the layers evoke collage. A pattern of warm red, yellow, orange and magenta windows over a cloudy white background forms one layer. A matrix of smaller black windows run along the bottom third and within a small irregular section at the top. Matte black diagonal shapes fan out from the right side of the painting. The work has a matte varnish. It is framed with .25 inch natural pine lattice, and is signed and dated on the back. Tatiana Flis creates work that investigates the peripheral field of space we live in and fill. The all-pervasive moments which we value yet pass without a second glance propel her studio practice. In offering the viewer a familiar yet abstracted landscape, she allows access into private worlds not unlike our own, creating connections across boundaries of time and space. Flis’ subtle yet striking forms and compositions draw the viewer into other dimensions that are imbued with our daily routines, exploring relationships between the human psyche and moments of isolation, wonder, and longing. Her work has been shown extensively and is in many private collections. Flis is represented by Fountain Street Gallery in Boston, MA.

Underwater
By Erin Rachel Hudak
Located in Brooklyn, NY
Underwater, 2020, 12x9 inches, acrylic on wood panel Reminiscent of an underwater journey, this painting is an exploration of a garden that flows in and out with the tides. The neon yellow fades beautifully into stains of green, then light blue with tuberous biomorphic shapes in the foreground. Born in Stow, Ohio in 1978, Erin Rachel Hudak creates collages, paintings and installations that discuss ideas of freedom, power, perception and transformation. Hudak’s artwork is often inspired by her personal relationship with nature juxtaposed with various histories of "mans" relationship with ‘The Land’. Living in New York City has furthered her interest in the multiple intersections of the natural world within and around the city. Hudak has been awarded with grants for her public sculpture projects: See Thru, Brooklyn NY 2014 , What We See, Brooklyn, NY, 2012; Love You Forever, Sun Valley Idaho...
