About the Item
I textured and painted this canvas to suggest the passage of time and of a journey from one place to another. Many of my best inspirations comes from chance encounters with the land while hiking, like the effect of water on rocks or cracks in the earth after long exposure to the sun. I use a professional grade of texture medium which I manipulate with tools that I have made over the years, found objects, and variety of Artists tools. I almost always incorporate the texture into my vision of a painting. I developed the process of enhancing a textural background of a painting with glazes, or many layers of paint over a period of years. I use a palette of mixed media on many of my works, incorporating acrylic, stains, charcoal, permanent inks and dry pigments.
