George Armfield
Chasing Pheasant

About the Item

Master painter of this genre, George Armfield is renowned for his depictions of dogs in the chase. Here a pheasant sails safely above their heads, while the dogs enjoy the chase below. Oil painting on canvas, in fine gilt frame, the painting has muted colors of autumn in soft greens and browns, rusts and blue-greens against the dog's red, white and brown fur. Frame has nameplate with George Armfield (1836-1875). Charming painting, in a well known genre, this is a very good example of this 19th century artist. Stands 24" high and 20.25" wide in the frame. Presented in overall excellent condition, with no known defects. A perfect gift, or addition to almost any room. Ready to hang!
