Note : London-born Edward Barnard Lintott (1875-1951) throughout his artistic career, demonstrated definite and sensitive ability in portraiture and still-lives.
Lintott initially studied in England and then in Paris under Jean-Paul Laurens and Benjamin Constant at the Académie Julian and later at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts.
After a long and distinguished career in London, the artist relocated to America in the early 1930’s. He was represented by important art galleries such as M. Knoedler & Co. and Macbeth in New York, and Doll and Richards in Boston.
Numerous exhibitions of his works were held subsequently at the Art Institute of Chicago, at the Pennsylvania Academy and at the Whitney Museum of American Art and in 1942 a retrospective exhibition at the Berkshire Museum in Pittsfield, Massachusetts.
He continued to receive praise from critics throughout the 1940’s until his death in 1951
