Ashoke Mullick
Woman on the Window, under the Moon, Angels Hovering, Red, Green color"In Stock"

About the Item

Ashoke Mullick - Woman by the Moonlight - 36 x 50 inches (unframed size) Acrylic on Canvas Inclusive of shipment in roll form. While a woman romantically perches herself by her house window, under the moonlight her man played a "Tuba" ( brass instrument) to amuse and entertain her. She feels angels hovering over her head as she listens in bliss to the wonderful Music under the moonlit night . Ashoke Mullick , has been painting since the last 45 years . His works are predominantly preoccupied with themes around woman and her activities , interaction and relationship with man and the environment . She is often dressed in an Indian Sari , with red ribbons on her hair, gazing out of the window awaiting her loved one or daydreaming about her love and life. The Bengali culture has a strong influence in Mullick's works where he incorporates stories from Rabindranath Tagore's great books like 'Charulata' .Mullick has often made his woman gaze out of the window, sheltered in her big house and wondering and longing for the outside world; so much so that she tries to see the world through her binoculars . Style: Ashoke Mullick is considered one of the leading painters from the Bengal School of Art. Mullick combines a sense of satire with contemporary conditions. His paintings focus strongly on the ordinary man and the contradictions he faces. He uses colours like greens and blues to depict a largely urban India. His paintings also includes a strong focus on the ordinary person – more specifically womankind and the contradictions it faces. The artist likes to portray the contemporary age where people have lost the human touch and have become increasingly impersonal in their behaviour. As a painter, he touches on these facets where customs are not being followed and the link between now and the past is getting hazy. He's carved out a niche for himself with his juxtaposition of real and unreal imagery infusing his canvasses with bold, vibrant imagination and certain energy, which is extremely appealing. Mullick has been painting for the last 30 years. About the Artist and his work : Born : 1957, Calcutta. Anil Kumar Yadav - Mahalaxmi - 36 x 48 inches (unframed size) Acrylic on Canvas , 2014 ( UNFRAMED ALL IN DOOR DELIVERED ) STYLE : Anil Kumar Yadav is an Artist from Kolkata who was born in 1984 a village in Uttar Pradesh. He grew up among villagers with modest lives and the village culture. The Rangolis at the village festival and the local potters’ fine works of art inspired him greatly towards art as a hobby and potential career from early childhood. His father was then posted to Kolkata so their family relocated to the city. Once the capital of India, with its rich cultural heritage and character immediately caught my attention. He started painting for the first time in the city. Since the central theme to his paintings is related to present day society, his works appear photographic or naturalistic. The religious ghats of Varanasi, Haridwar and other antique places attracted him for their cultural heritage characterised by the holy saints, antique architectures, old idol sculptures and mysticism, spirituality. So he portrayed the simplicity of the architectural doors, temples, sculptures and the beautiful narrow streets and ‘galis’ which holds beauty that can not be described in words. He always prefers a highly realistic approach in his paintings for whatever he sees in his surroundings. He started to represent paintings in a form whose expression manifests a step ahead of photography. He has always tried to reach to a horizon where photography cannot reach and make a statement what is called hyperrealism.
