Melinda Morrison. The painting has a custom made frame. Look for the free shipping code when you check out. What is Egg Tempera? Tempera is a handmade painting medium, which is very easy to prepare. It harnesses the natural emulsion of egg yolk, using it as a binder of liquid and dry pigments to create color layers. The great advantage of using a mixture of normally immiscible substances (water and fat), is that we can use tempera either as a lean or oily medium. This grants it an amazing versatility. E. Melinda Morrison As a young woman, her B.A. in fine arts from the University of Texas at Tyler took a backseat to the corporate world for many years: advertising exec; graphic designer and art director of her own company; and later corporate and executive recruiter. Not surprisingly, she was recognized in national competitions for her print design and annual reports, but shortly after her move to Denver in 1994, the satisfied extrovert began to hear from the starving artist. She says she “felt like her soul was drying up”. An oil-painting class at the Art Students’ League of Denver rained water on that desert ground. Over the next five years, Melinda studied painting at the League under the guidance of master painters like, Quang Ho, Kim English, Kevin Weckbach, and Ron Hicks. As her passion and skill grew, so did her dream to paint full-time. She made the leap in 2003 and brought years of corporate skills into the new and intricate dance of a full-time professional art career. She hasn’t looked back. Since that decision, Melinda has participated in over 8 one woman shows in Santa Fe and national and regional shows in the Southwest and Southeast gaining recognition for her figurative paintings. Her work is collected among collectors across the US and internationally. Melinda has been featured in major articles in national and regional magazines and newspapers such as Southwest Art, American Art Collector, The South African Artist Magazine, the Santa Fean Magazine, and the Albuquerque Journal (where she received a three, full-page article on her work). She has been chosen several times as a finalist in the national Bold brush art contest and over 20 times as FAV 15%. As a sought out teacher, she offers professional studies courses as well as offering workshop instruction from other nationally known artists. She is a member of Oil Painters of America and the Portrait Society of America. She has won awards of excellence and honorable mention in OPA online and regional shows and recently Best People, Award of Excellence in NOAPS online showcase.

GREEN UMBRELLA Oil on Panel Impressionism 20x 16 Dana Point CA Beach
By Jim Beckner
Located in Houston, TX
Gray Umbrella is an example of the bright colors that Beckner uses in his paintings. The Gray Umbrella series was painted in Dana Point California Jim Beckner just finished a series of beach paintings. All of them can be seen below and available. Framing will be complete be December or cam be shipped without a frame. Denver-based artist Jim Beckner paints like a jazz musician. The blues bop, the oranges swing, and the yellows vibrate. Drawn to the beat of the city, the artist creates expressionistic urban landscapes that show his unabashed love of color. More than anything, his paintings dance with their own energy, and an urban rhythm emanates from his canvases. Beckner was born and raised in Lakewood, CO, a suburb of Denver. Art played an integral role in the family. “My dad was—and still is—a watercolor artist,” he explains. “He does a lot of Colorado landscapes, very detailed, specific, realistic artwork.” Beckner remembers drawing and coloring at every opportunity when he was a child. “Both of my parents recognized that it was something I enjoyed,” he recalls. “I often drew to entertain those around me.” Occasionally, the Beckner family would drive into downtown Denver to eat out at a restaurant. “I always thought the city was an exciting place,” notes the artist. “It had a certain edginess about it.” Those early excursions, and the urban sensibility they fostered in the impressionable youth, would have a profound effect on his burgeoning talent. Encouraged by his parents, Beckner took art classes in junior high school. “I began to realize that I had some skill at drawing,” he says, “that I could see something and then re-create it.” In high school his art teacher was artist Ray Knaub...

"Tree in Winter" Delos Palmer Jr, Sketch of Tree 20th Century Impressionist Work
Located in New York, NY
Delos Palmer Jr. Tree in Winter Signed lower left Oil on Masonite 10 x 8 inches Delos Palmer, Jr. was born January 26, 1890 in New York City. His father was Dr. Delos Palmer, a socially prominent Park Avenue dentist. His mother was Jennifer Emma Banta. His parents were both born in NYC, where they married in 1880 and had five children. There had three sons and two daughters. He was the fourth born. They lived in a private townhouse at 48 West 50th Street, with a cook, a waitress, and a nurse to assist in his father's dental practice on the ground floor. They lived a privileged life and the children all went to the best private schools. He graduated high school in June of 1908. He studied at The Art Students League from 1911 to 1915 with the renowned American Impressionist, George Bellows. According to the artist, "Bellows was a good influence on me. He taught me how to paint what I see and what I feel!" In 1916 Palmer moved to the historic Holbein Studios at 139 West 55th Street. He worked there until 1920, when he moved to the more fashionable Greenwich Village, where he became a successful society portraitist. He was 27 years old during the Great War, so he was not selected for military service. In 1923 Palmer began to sell interior story illustrations to Metropolitan Magazine, The Saturday Evening Post, and Liberty. In 1924 he married Helen Smith Romme and moved to Stamford, CT, where they raised a daughter and two step-sons. The fateful market crash of 1929 ended Palmer's high society portrait business, but he soon found work through his contacts at Liberty magazine's MacFadden Publishing, which also produced several crime and detective magazines such as Master Detective and True Detective. He then began to paint pulp covers for Dime Mystery, Clues, Frontier Stories, Action Stories, Western Trails, All Star Adventure, Complete Western Book...
