Carpenter mostly painted portraits in the manner of Thomas Lawrence and his influence can be seen here in the composition and detail. A lovely Victorian portrait oil painting by a female artist who was much sought after as a portraitist in London and she was also a frequent exhibitor at the Royal Academy. When purchased this painting was of a single sitter. However when this stunning painting was professionally cleaned it revealed the second younger sister.
