About the Item

Jan Maris Small Street with Green Scooter 42 x 33 cm Oil on wood panel Frame is included in price, size with frame 46 x 37 cm The work of the Amsterdam artist Jan Maris is special and very recognizable. The situations he paints are recognisable, but also his own developed style and choices he makes in this regard. This makes him an interesting artist from the first moment you see the work. His fantastic technique, his own subjects and his own style. A picturesque and perhaps also a melancholic one, but in any case a spacious one. His work offers space in a literal and figurative sense. You can wander in the work and let your own imagination run wild. Deserted streets, alleys, buildings. Always a play of light and shadow. Shapes and surfaces, reflections of light on the stones, shadows and colors. Particularly atmospheric and spacious, very detailed and yet loosely painted. The artist likes to base his work on 'the real'. As he says himself: I find it interesting how fragments of an image, converted into brush strokes, can form an extremely recognizable whole. The creative process consists of choosing the object, determining the crop, arranging, omitting and sometimes adding elements, and converting all this into paint. He is known for the aforementioned streets, squares and cityscapes. Perhaps less known are the still lifes that now belong to our collection. In those still lifes, the Amsterdam artist tells a story, a story about artists, but just as much a story about form, composition and color. Perhaps in that sense such a story is also the story about the artist 'Jan Maris' himself. We ship our art worldwide for free safely in a custom made wooden crate. Street in Naples
By Sean Flood
Located in Boston, MA
Sean Flood (American, b.1982), Street in Naples, 2012. Signed lower right: "Sean Flood". Painting depicts a cityscape of a street in Naples, Italy. Painting dimensions: 46 x 32 inches. Framed dimensions: 48 3/4 x 34 1/2 inches. Born and raised on the South Shore of Massachusetts, Sean Flood has always been drawing. The process of construction has also surrounded him for much of his life. His father was a builder, and Flood himself worked construction during his time at the Art Institute of Boston. Flood’s art is a reflection of these factors: when he approaches a work, he is drawing with paint, constructing his scenes from the ground up, much like how a building is raised. His subject matter, not surprisingly, pulls from his fascination and familiarity with the architecture of cities. Flood presents his viewers with the modern era’s landscape: the urban jungle created by man’s building efforts. The kinetic energy felt in Flood’s paintings has its root’s in the artist’s background. Flood spent many years as a street artist working in graffiti, and still approaches his paintings with the same dynamism used in covering a blank wall. After brief forays in architecture and illustration, Flood found a home in fine art under the tutelage of George Nick, realizing that painting could appreciate both a frenzied energy and an eye for the construction process. Flood uses both to create works that reflect the hectic feel of urban life, yet also project the familiarity and comfort a city brings to its denizens. Flood’s work has been exhibited at many venues including the deCordova Museum, Duxbury Art...

"Pistoia Street" by Christopher Clark, Original Oil Painting, Italian Cityscape
By Christopher Clark
Located in Denver, CO
Christopher Clark's "Pistoia Street" is an original, hand made oil and acrylic painting that depicts a brightly lit city street. Christopher has been an artist since early childhood, when he would watch Bob Ross on PBS and mimic the famed oil painter’s art with crayons. He considers himself a self-educated artist, with his studies ranging from personal training with contemporary masters, to classical academic art technique, with much inspiration from 19th Century art and the Impressionist Movement. Christopher lived in Italy for a time, immersing himself in Italian culture and art, which continues to influence his painting. His fan base has grown considerably since his return to the US, gaining the attention of Lucasfilm and Marvel Fine Art, which both signed him as an officially licensed artist in 2016. Other clients include George Lucas, Major League Baseball, Louisville Slugger, and Fender Guitars. Christopher’s painting skills are not his only talent in the arts. He has won several national swing dance championship competitions, and also studies tango and blues dancing. He has played guitar since the age of 12, and during his time as lead guitarist for a rock band, he opened for Blue Oyster Cult and Eddie Money...
