Beautiful artisan style frame.
Beach scene with threatening clouds in the sky, and few but different people enjoying the place. Strong black and white contrast in the center of the scene.
The beach seem protected by a enormous ocher building, like the sand on the beach, that presides over the entire scene and contrasts with the timid entrance of the turquoise water on the right.
The thick and blurred line, the light touch of a brush or a simple stain define an extraordinary landscape with figures.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
John Lawrence was born in London in 1934. He studied at Bromley College of Art ( 1952-1954) and showed at the Greenwich Gallery and with the Free Painters and Sculptors at the Trafford Gallery.
Manchester City Art Gallery and the Walker Gallery in Liverpool hold his work.
He has exhibited in England, Ireland and America.
Painting bought by the Nuffield Foundation and The British Arts Council .
Featured in the 1990 Dictionary of British Art Vol. VI. 20th Century Painters and Sculptors.

John Lawrence
John Lawrence was born in Kent and first made a name for himself in the 1960s designing various advertisement campaigns for well-known brands. His artwork appeared as weekly full-page adverts in many national newspapers. Interestingly, Lawrence was the illustrator of the original Big Ben logo that appears on HP Sauce – an adaptation of which can still be seen on sauce bottles today. In later life, Lawrence decided to focus on his oil painting and under the tuition of the artist Eddie Franklin, Lawrence was encouraged to develop his painting style. Lawrence is best known for his marine scenes along with landscapes and townscapes in his vibrant and expressive style. Lawrence paints full time and his work features in international collections.

Author Simó Busom (Barcelona- Spain 1927-2020), a landscape painter, trained at the Baixas Academy. He began with watercolors, and from an initial figurative art, influenced by the work of the Catalan artist Ramon Rogent, he evolved towards post-cubism and finally returned to figurative art.
