About the Item
One exceptionally beautiful afternoon at the pool in 2011, I was struck by the ribbons of sunlight and distortions affecting my daughter through the moving water. I was also keenly aware of catching this lovely, brief moment with her before it flickered by. That was the beginning of the "Fractured Light" series, an exploration that excites and fascinates me to this day. I paint what I love - the figure - while exploring areas of fluid distortion that exist naturally in turbulent, sunlight-drenched water. As a vehicle for life, cleansing, change and renewal, water lends meaning to the work. I find this unique atmosphere extraordinary. The paintings of Massachusetts artist, Michele Poirier Mozzone, have garnered awards in national juried competitions and are held in private collections internationally. Most recently, Hammitt luxury handbags of Los Angeles, CA featured one of Michele’s paintings as inspiration for a new collection. Her work has appeared in notable publications such as International Artist, Artists & Illustrators (UK), Pastel Journal, Cape Cod Art, Santa Clara Review, Glorious Sport (UK) and Pratique Des Arts (France), among others.
