American artist Ron Blumberg was classically trained at La Grande Academie Chaumiere in Paris, 1932, before moving to New York where he became a National Academy artist and a member of the Art Students League.
"The Sceptic", is a rare painting from the artists, "Psychological Series", which was executed from 1948-1952.
"The Sceptic", is original oil pastel, signed c. 1948. Brilliant vivid color pallet and a master level technique.

Ron Blumberg
Rob Blumberg was an accomplished artist who painted in a dizzying variety of styles, including Impressionism, Postimpressionism, Surrealism, Futurism, Expressionism and abstraction. Across these distinctive changes that took place throughout his career, his work consistently possessed a vibrant and passionate glow.
Blumberg was born in Reading, Pennsylvania, in 1908. He studied at the National Academy of Design in New York City, the Art Students League of New York and the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris. In 1932, he moved back to New York, where he became a National Academy artist and a member of the Art Students League of New York.
Blumberg moved to California in 1940. In 1950, he opened a prominent private art school in Westwood, Los Angeles. In support of a California statute that granted royalties to artists from profits on resales of their work, he co-founded the grassroots group Artists for Economic Action. As its chairman, he worked closely with state legislators to bring California to the forefront of promoting artists’ rights.
Blumberg’s most prolific period was from 1947 to 1951. Often referred to as his “psychological period,” he delved into many different modernist styles. After 1952, he favored a palette knife over a paintbrush for creating his art. He died in 2002.
Blumberg’s works are part of the permanent collections of major museums, including the Smithsonian’s Hirshhorn Museum in Washington, DC, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

Jirayr Zorthian(1911-2004), went through two Turkish massacres before age eight. He left Turkey at age nine with his family and spent a year in Padua, Italy, waiting for his visa to open to the United States. This period was very important in his life because his father took him to many cities in Europe and exposed him to great works of art. Zorthian arrived in the United States at the age of eleven and settled with his family in New Haven, Connecticut. He obtained his formal education there, after graduating from Yale in 1932, the Winchester Fellowship granted him a year and a half at the American Academy in Rome with travel and study throughout Europe.
His art career branched into various directions on his return to the United States. As a mural painter his reputation was established. He has forty two (42) murals throughout the United States. Belgian artist Miette Braive(1916-2000), was classically trained in Belgium, before moving to Paris to pursue her art career as first a student and then a contemporary of the French artist/author Andre’ Lhote. She arrived in Paris in the mid-late 1940’s and began a career as a modern artist working and exhibiting with Andre’ Lhote over the next two decades.
Braive was a woman of small stature, and when Lhote met her he nicknamed her, “Miette”�, as she was small like a “Crumb”� of bread. Born Emilie Braive, once nicknamed by Lhote, she worked and signed all of her work as, M. Braive.
