About the Item
Born in South Africa, Wietzie left Cape Town for the United Kingdom and then Canada. After a long career as a lawyer, she began taking painting classes at the Emily Carr School in Vancouver. The abstract floral artist Bobbie Burgers became her mentor and painting her "raison d’être."
Wietzie left Canada in 2013 and moved to France where she lives and paints since.
Several personal exhibitions have been dedicated to her in France, the United States, Spain, China and Japan. She exhibits permanently in France, China and Japan.
“I am inspired by French lyrical abstract art, which I consider to be a balanced and elegant style of painting. French lyrical abstraction allows you to express something personal, subjective and emotional, and to do it in a poetic and abstract way."
