Max Toutain was born in Paris in 1935, discovering his passion for art from a young age, mixing with artists in Montmartre in Paris, but also in Antibes and Cagnes Sur Mer, in the South of France. His work displays a poetic charm, capturing the passion and mood of his surroundings. He has exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Francais, Grand Palais and throughout the Provinces, as well as in Ypres, Belgium and in Oklahoma & Chicago and further afield, receiving many distinctions in a long artistic career, including the Medaille d’Or in Marseille, Beziers & Provence.

This striking oil painting presents a vibrant and minimalist still life featuring two golden-yellow pears resting against a deep green background. The artist’s confident brushwork and use of vivid, saturated colors create a bold visual impact, lending a modernist quality to this timeless subject.
