About the Item

Mountain Landscape (Diamonds) 36.0 x 36.0 x 2.0, 8.0 lbs Acrylic paint on archival paper Hand signed by artist Artist's Commentary: "This work explores the idea of multiple images working together to create a larger idea. Using repetition, geometry, and intricate pattern, the hundreds of colored lines in this piece work together to create a mountain vista. While the landscape image is easy to discern, it's worth noting that the only lines in the painting are the repeated diamond pattern. In creating these line paintings I became fascinated with the idea of creating forms without actually drawing them. In this painting the mountains, trees, and sky are revealed purely by the changes in color in the repeated diamonds." About the Artist: Since 1997 Alex Cook has created over 240 murals in 25 states and 6 countries (USA, Kenya, Nigeria, Guatemala, Australia, New Zealand). Alex’s work focuses on community and spiritual themes expressed through nature imagery and storytelling. For 30 years Alex has been a passionate studio artist as well. He works in acrylic, oil, watercolor, collage, sculpture and more. During this time he has made hundreds of paintings, drawings, and other artworks, selling them nationally. Cook's current work fuses abstraction and representation. In 2014 Cook created the YOU ARE LOVED mural project, making murals whose image is simply the words “YOU ARE LOVED”. Since then it has grown into a project working with communities all over the US to influence public conversation about self-worth and value. To date, there are 115 YOU ARE LOVED murals in 15 states and 3 countries. They are in schools, homeless shelters, prisons, worship communities, and more.

MOUNTAINSCAPE contemporary landscape with mountains
By Linda Jacobson
Located in Palm Desert, CA
The moon shining in a luminous blue night illuminates two trees in a flowing, lyrical and sinewy relationship. The interpretive landscape has a dream-like quality and is inspired by a landscape Jacobson encountered in North Yorkshire, England. Jacobson creates her paintings with many layers of acrylic paint on canvas, giving her work a luminous and translucent quality. The vivid, saturated, jewel-like colors and strong compositional elements express the spiritual essence of nature. On gallery wrapped canvas. Linda Jacobson's paintings are lyrical abstractions inspired by her love of landscape and its elements: form, movement, light, and what she perceives to be its essence an energy or quality that goes beyond visual appearance. Born in Los Angeles, she received her BFA from California State College, Northridge, and graduated Summa cum Laude from the prestigious Art Center College of Design where she was mentored by pioneer California modernist Lorser Feitelson. Her work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions in galleries and museums throughout the United States and abroad, including MRG Fine Art, in Los Angeles; Gallerie Rohling, Berlin, Germany; California State University Channel Islands in Ventura; Karpeles Museum in Santa Barbara, California; BG Gallery in Santa Monica; George Lawson...
