Allen Dean Cochran
American Impressionist Artist Allen Dean Cochran Oil Painting Summer Catskills

circa 1915

About the Item

Known for his winter scenes, here is an exquisite example of Cochran's talent and artistic vision with this summer piece. The application of paint is just beautiful to view in person and I tried to show that with my pics here. Looks to be an original period frame also. DESCRIPTION "Foothills of the Catskills," 1915 Oil on canvas Signed and dated lower right: Allen D. Cochran, titled on the frame plaque 24" H x 30" W CONDITION Visual: Generally good condition. Craquelure scattered throughout. Minor stretcher bar creases along the four edges. Minor surface dirt and grime. Blacklight: No evidence of restoration under blacklight. Frame: 28.5" H x 34.5" W x 2.25" D Biography Allen Dean Cochran Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Allen Dean Cochran received his art training from two very notable artists of his day, that being Kenyon Cox of Ohio and Birge Harrison of Woodstock, both members of the National Academy. Cochran moved from Ohio to Woodstock where he became a member of the Woodstock Artists Association. He exhibited with that group and at the National Academy, Corcoran Gallery of Art, Art Institute of Chicago, and Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art. He was also a member of the Salmagundi Club. Source: Covington Gallery SHIPPING NOTE Instead of using in home delivery which could take 3-7 weeks it is possible to get UPS Parcel ground I think. I would need additional time to pack it and get it to UPS. Please inquire if interested. It should save a considerable amount? I would need to have an delivery address to call for pricing before the sale is made. SELLERS STATEMENT I have been in the art business as an artist and collector since the early 80's. I'm currently offering select paintings from my collection like this one. In order to collect new paintings, I must sell off some of my current collection. For art that I have painted, it is derived in a variety of ways. I'm a responder. I respond to light, color, design, etc. and I love painting both outdoors on location and in the studio under a controlled environment. I try to convey an idea, mood or just simply a beautiful setting. I'm inspired by a wide variety of subject matter and styles of painting and do not adhere to just one way. My paintings have won numerous awards over the years and have been collected both nationally and internationally. They can be found in three museum collections, the White House Collection and many private collections.
