About the Item
Gravina was born in Italy and studied at the Art Institute in Milan. He has exhibited throughout Italy as well as England and Germany. This piece was executed during his stay in Paris where he packed much detail through out. Figures are portrayed with utmost detail, as you can feel the time of this piece effortlessly. We are instantly drawn back to the time of the 20th Century effortlessly as we discover all the incredible details. Couples walk in the park, as ladies with umbrellas walk in the hot sun. The horse and carriage is found trotting along the street as the lush greenery is noted through out. Gravina is best know for his characteristic views of Paris, the famous cafes of Paris, interior Bistros as well as his pastoral picnic scenes on the banks of the Seine. The painting is a pertinent example of this, as he championed his brushwork with much fascination and love for the city of lights. This piece is signed lower right by the artist and it comes housed in a beautiful French giltwood gold style frame and hanging wire on verso ready to be displayed.
