A sailing ship bathes in the warm glow of the setting sun, its silhouette dominating the scene. The painting depicts the vessel's last journey, gracefully making its way across the shimmering sea. It bids a silent farewell to the horizon.
About the Artist
Artist Art Clark paints quiet rural scenes that reimagine the past with a sense of nostalgia and mystery. “When I see a scene that intrigues me, my imagination transforms it into what I wish it could be—a forgotten relic in the woods, a mountaintop, or a lone structure lost in the prairie,†says Art. He began painting in 2017 after years as a landscape photographer, initially inspired by an episode of Paint This With Jerry Yarnell on PBS. Largely self-taught, he honed his craft through close observation of admired artists, eventually developing a style that balances storytelling with expressive brushwork. His studio is a simple yet creative space—just an easel, a supply cart, and perfect lighting. It doubles as his music room, where his electric guitar makes sure the neighbors know he’s home. Outside of painting, Art is a certified health coach, a woodworker, and a photographer with a deep love for Mexican food.

"Negative space interplays with the deep hues of poured color - evocative of the crystalline blue and dark gray of waves against white foam and blowing mist at sea," says artist Dorothy Dunn. An ethereal abstract seascape with layers of blue, green, and yellow, punctuated with black. "This painting was created using multiple raw and controlled pours of transparent and saturated acrylic paint on canvas to achieve layered depth and interest."
About the Artist
From childhood on, Dorothy was always eager about painting. Her grandfather encouraged her to graduate from a finger-painting enthusiast to a more mature and serious artist. Dorothy’s approach to her abstract artwork entails pouring paint in transparent layers to create sweeping colors across the canvas. Regardless, she manages to stay true to her childhood roots: “To this day, my clothes and hands always reflect the colors I am working with,” says Dorothy. “And I once again rediscovered the joys of finger-painting with my children!”
