"Green Bartlett & Black Grapes" by Blair Atherholt is a captivating original still life painting that celebrates the natural beauty of fruits in a simple yet elegant composition. Set against a backdrop of deep black, the painting features a Green Bartlett pear and a cluster of black grapes arranged on a table. The Green Bartlett pear stands out with its vibrant green skin, its smooth surface reflecting the soft light that illuminates the scene. Next to it, the cluster of black grapes adds a contrasting element with its rich, dark hues. The simplicity of the composition allows the viewer to focus on the exquisite details of the fruits, from the subtle variations in color to the delicate textures of their skins. Each element is rendered with meticulous attention to realism, capturing the essence of the fruits in all their natural beauty. The black background provides a dramatic contrast that enhances the visual impact of the painting, allowing the colors of the fruits to pop against the dark backdrop. Artist Biology: Blair Atherholt's journey as an artist began long before he even considered it a career. From the earliest days of childhood, he found solace and joy in sketching, filling countless sketchbooks with drawings fueled by both imagination and keen observation. In 2011, Atherholt took a decisive step forward in his artistic pursuits by enrolling in the Schuler School of Fine Arts. Immersed in the study of techniques and disciplines of the Old Masters, he found inspiration in the life works of figures like Hans Schuler, Sr. and Jacques Maroger, whose dedication to excellence in visual art became the guiding light of the Schuler School's mission. Graduating from the rigorous four-year program in 2015, Atherholt emerged with a clear goal: to pursue a career as a fine artist. Now, at 31 years old, Atherholt's focus lies primarily on traditional still life painting. Combining traditional techniques with contemporary subject matter, he endeavours with each new painting to hone his mastery of the medium, one brushstroke at a time. Atherholt's talent and dedication have not gone unnoticed. His work has been featured in multiple national shows and international publications, including International Artist Magazine, where his demonstration article "Precision in Painting" graced the cover of issue #134. He has received numerous accolades and awards, including the Best Still Life Award in the 2021 NOAPS Best of America Exhibition and an Award of Excellence in the Oil Painters of America 2021 Salon. From the prestigious American Art Collector Editor’s Choice Award to the Realism Award of Excellence in the Oil Painters of America 28th National Juried Exhibition, Atherholt's achievements underscore his growing influence in the art world. Still Life with Grapes - original still life realism painting - contemporary art
Located in London, Chelsea
Dramatic and luxurious, Still Life with Grapes is a striking study of contrast, texture, and abundance. The deep blue-black grapes spill onto a delicate porcelain plate, their clustered forms exuding a natural opulence. The twisting vine, reaching upward like a sculptural relic, adds an element of wild elegance, while the surrounding leaves, tinged with autumnal hues, remind us of the inevitable change of seasons. Titorenkov’s exquisite use of light and shadow heightens the depth of this composition—the grapes shimmer under soft illumination, each one a study in transparency and reflection. The intricate blue patterns of the plate lend an air of timeless refinement, grounding the composition in a sense of tradition. Against the stark darkness of the background, the fruit and its organic details stand out with mesmerizing clarity. This painting is more than a depiction of fruit; it is a testament to nature’s richness, to the beauty of growth and decay, and to the fleeting, yet eternal, nature of the harvest. Still Life with Grapes speaks of abundance, nostalgia, and the simple pleasures of the earth’s bounty.
