About the Item
Arbor View - Climbing vines wind around the arbor column
disappearing into the overhanging leaves as
traces of sunlight peak through. The shaded foliage in the foreground
contrasts with the sunlit path where
white roses bloom and a passage leads us through an archway into another
secret garden.
As an homage to the early twentieth century painter John Singer Sargent,
artist Carole Garland chooses
as subject a lush garden in a lavish setting. A realistic and traditional
style is appreciatively employed to
bring to life the luxuriant setting and remind us of another more peaceful
era and a slower, gentler pace of
life.
This framed 22"x 18" (including frame) painting is wired for easy of
hanging.
Artist Carole Garland has studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and the
University of the Americas, Mexico City. She has participated in oil
painting workshops in France and San Miguel de Allende and her
most recent influence is fine artist David Gallup, former vice-president of
the California Art Club. She
has been painting in oils for more than 20 years.
Garland is in art collections throughout the U.S. and has shown in venues
all over Southern California.

Carole Garland
Carole Garland, born and raised in Chicago, graduated from Knox College, Galesburg, Ill., She studied figure drawing and oil painting at the Art Institute of Chicago and the University of the Americas, Mexico City. After moving to Los Angeles she studied privately with Keith Finch, Venice. Concurrent with her art pursuits, Garland worked as a magazine editor, publicist, director's assistant, book editor, and sales executive. After a brief hiatus from painting, she looked to the outdoors for inspiration and began plein air watercolor studies with Don Blaisdell, UCLA.
