About the Item

Dramatic stormy landscape by Charles Henry Harmon (American, 1859-1936). Looking out over a lake from the shoreline, dark grey storm clouds can be seen rolling over the mountaintops in the far distance. In isolated areas, light breaks through the clouds and illuminates patched of dense forest. In the foreground, a few trees stand proud from a rocky outcropping at the edge of the water. Signed "C. H. Harmon" in the lower left corner. Presented in an ornately carved gilded frame. Canvas size: 8"H x 12"W

This painting is a typical Scottish Impressionist painting with vibrant brushwork. It was painted circa 1900 and is in very good condition in its original frame from W Stewart of Perth. It has various labels verso. Milne exhibited extensively at The Royal Scottish Academy and The Royal Academy. This is a lovely example of an early twentieth century Scottish oil. Signed left.
