Very fine quality period British oil painting, depicting this quiet Venetian backwater canal. Painted with delightful light, almost translucent, with fine layers of impasto oil. The work is very close in many respects with the paintings by JMW Turner, especially from his Venetian period. Worthy of a fine collection and presented in this magnificent gilt frame.
