About the Item
This piece, "Sunrise Over the Marsh", is a 20x20 winter oil painting on canvas by artist Claudio D'Angelo. Featured is an early sunrise over a snow covered marshland, the sun and moon exchanging places in the sky. Two small red foxes are walking in the bottom foreground among the snowy grass. The cool blue sky warms up toward the horizon, the early morning hours casting an orange glow over the trees and grass,
About the artist:
CLAUDIO D'ANGELO was born in Montreal but grew up in a rural area just north of the city. There he spent much of his time exploring the local woodlots with their adjacent fallow fields and discovering the various creatures that made those places their home. Drawing inspiration from these experiences, he spent countless hours filling youthful sketchbooks over those years. After high school he studied illustration and graphic design, which then led him to earn a successful livelihood as an illustrator. However in 1980, unwilling to repress his true passion any longer, he turned the page and dedicated himself to painting full-time. With a keen attention to the ever-changing ways that sunlight plays on the landscape, his paintings depict a more intimate view of nature where landscape and animal subject are harmoniously integrated.
Over the years his work has been exhibited through the Society of Animal Artists, the National Museum of Wildlife Art, the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum, the Bennington Center for the Arts as well as the Algonquin Art Center. In 2012 the Yvonne L. Bombardier Museum staged a retrospective exhibition of his work going back 30 years. His coin designs, mostly of wildlife subjects, have been juried and selected dozens of times by The Royal Canadian Mint. As well, his paintings have also been juried to appear on conservation stamps on numerous occasions. His work can be found in collections throughout Canada, the US and Europe.
“Animals have fascinated me for as long as I can remember. The fact that they live in a world that is unconcerned with the preoccupations of humankind, somehow made them particularly appealing to me. I would spend much time and effort seeking them out in the places they inhabited. It was with these continued forays that I started to fully appreciate just how wonderful and inexhaustible this mine of inspiration truly was for the aspiring artist I had become. Through my work I have strived to recreate the beauty of what I have seen as well as what I have so far come to understand of these creatures in their secretive world.”

Windmill and Shepherd Boy Landscape Collaboration Two Famous Norwegian Artists
Located in Stockholm, SE
Сollaboration work by two Norwegian artists: Morten Müller (1828 - 1911) and Olaf Christopher Dahl (1842 - 1895). Painted approximately in late 19th century (ca. 1870 - 1880). The collaboration of two renowned Norwegian artists in this landscape is an example of the fusion of their talent and skill. A very interesting compositional solution, where among the hills buried in vegetation, a lowland with a small pond is depicted, where a young shepherd has brought his cow to the watering hole. In the distance, on the hill, a windmill is visible, creating an emphasis on the perspective and depth of the composition. The nuanced interplay of light and shadow adds of complexity to the scene. The calmness of the pastoral setting below contrasts markedly with presence of gloomy clouds looming above. This juxtaposition creates a harmonious balance, presenting a duality inherent in nature. And this rare and awesome work of art should be considered for museum collection as well. Both painters presented in National Museum Oslo, Norway.
Size app.: 46 x 69 cm (roughly 18.1 x 27.2 in), with frame 60 x 84 cm cm (roughly 23.6 x 33.1 in). Good condition with wear, tiny losses to paint in minor areas and craquelure. So it needs minor care and conservation. Please study good resolution images for overall cosmetic condition. In person actual painting may appear darker or brighter than in our pictures, strictly depending on sufficient light in your environment. Weight of app. 4.4 kg is going to measure some 6 kg volume weight packed for shipment.

From 1850 he was again a student at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, with Johann Wilhelm Schirmer as a teacher. From 1850 to 1851, Müller painted with the Swedish landscape painter Marcus...
