A fine impressionist oil painting of a farmer ploughing at dusk with daylight dwindling by American artist George Arthur Hays (1854-1945). Hays was born in Greenville, New Hampshire and was a self taught artist, living most of his adult life in Providence, Rhode Island, becoming known for his tranquil landscapes featuring cows or sheep. Oil on canvas laid down on panel/board, signed lower left and title inscribed on verso “Ploughin at Dusk, 1910,” and housed in a molded giltwood frame. Dimensions: 20 in H x 27 in W, actual; 26 in H x 33 in W, framed. Ref:7
