About the Item
Fragrances et bruillements is a unique oil on canvas painting by contemporary artist Gérard Priault, dimensions are 81 × 100 cm (31.9 × 39.4 in).
The artwork is signed, sold unframed and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
In this painting, the horizon divides the sky and earth, creating an aerial perspective that feels like flying over the forest. Light pierces through the cloudy sky above the trees, adding depth, while a damp mist drifts through the vegetation, enhancing the scene's mystery.
Gérard Priault takes inspiration from nature, especially during his extensive travels through tropical rainforests. Immersing himself in these untouched environments, he absorbs their essence, yet his paintings are not direct representations. Instead, they emerge from his imagination, shaped by memories and impressions. These mysterious, dreamlike landscapes invite viewers to imagine the sounds of wildlife, feel the humid air, and marvel at the vivid vegetation.
With a precise and deliberate technique, Gérard Priault constructs his scenes tree by tree, leaf by leaf. For him, creation is an inward journey where time seems to dissolve, and the painting itself guides its composition. This timeless quality is echoed in his works, leaving viewers to wonder: are they witnessing the past, the present, or the future?

Gérard Priault draws his inspiration from nature: during his many trips to the world’s tropical rainforests, the artist immerses himself in an almost contemplative way in untouched nature and allows himself to be totally immersed in its elements. However, his paintings do not represent real rainforests but are the product of his imagination, based on personal memories and impressions. The viewer is invited to travel through these landscapes, which have a mysterious, almost dreamlike atmosphere: they can imagine the sounds of birds and monkeys, feel the humidity in the air and mist, and be amazed by the intense colours of the vegetation. Using a precise and meticulous technique, the artist builds up the landscape tree by tree, leaf by leaf. For him, the creative process is also an inner adventure, in which time no longer exists. “My paintings are images of dreams born of gestures. Each painting is a journey of initiation, filled with new insights.”

The buildings in the background are transformed into magic flutes that play the music described in the flying scores. I am particularly attached to this city because I lived in Piedmont for three years". Sabrina Pugliese
BIOGRAPHY
Sabrina Pugliese was born on April 2nd, 1990 in a small village in the Southern Italy, Nova Siri. Since she was a child, she was interested in arts in their different forms: singing, playing piano and visual arts. She graduated in Modern Literature at the University of Urbino, in the heart of the Italian Renaissance, the birthplace of Raffaello Sanzio. She didn’t have the chance to attend artistic high school because it was too far from home. So, after the graduation, she began to devote herself to her passions: painting, exclusively oil on canvas. She has started painting as a self-trained painter to promote and improve her territory, Basilicata, also named Lucania. Nowadays, she expanded her project because she wants to spread Mediterranean holidays’ colours, sounds and perfumes, with the image of the sea, all over the world. She knows that painting can give voice to landscapes of the soul through seascapes. She lived for ten years away from home to study and work and, in this way, she created a stronger relationship with her origins. During the pandemic, she has decided to return to Basilicata to offer her small contribution to the Southern of Italy.
She has participated in several national and international exhibitions including:
• Collective exhibition with two painters: Giulio Orioli e Nino Oriolo for “Night of the brigands” 2019, in Nova Siri Centre (MT) thank to collaboration of Maria De Lorenzo...
